I've been buying and using pressure cookers for many years. This is my 4th electric. Having previous experience with manual cookers, I've always been frustrated by the million pre-set buttons on the front of the units. My first was a Cuisinart (wore out the inner pan), then a Crock Pot (lid melted on the stove), then a Kalorik (abandoned due to poor construction and safety issues). I was excited to see this unit made by Presto, the manufacturer of the manual units I've been using for many years. The look of the unit is awesome - although I do wish I could turn off the display lights when it's not in use. I love that it's easy to set the cooking time and pressure manually. I also love the safety features built into the lid construction. The lid closes easily, locks into place, then is secured by a second lock that cannot be opened unless the unit has released pressure (the pressure valve physically blocks it when the unit is at pressure). Way to go, Presto! It is easy to manipulate the pressure release without danger of burning your hand, and easy to set it so it stays open. Above all - the unit cooks well and as expected. Using my memorized cooking times and pressures, my food comes out perfectly. Rice, hard boiled eggs and bone stock all came out beautifully at the expected cooking times and pressures.     • Easier to use than a "Power Cooker"
I had a "Power Cooker" which is a copy of a Instant Pot. It worked good for a few years before failing to build up stream. The Presto pressure cooker works flawlessly so far. I've done 4 roasts so far without any issues. Looks like the green locking handle is where pressure sensor is located. Never could find the pressure sensor on the Power Cooker or Instant Pot. The only slight drawback is a plastic lip between the cooking pot and the case. Liquids can drop in this tight space and you might have to spend a few mins cleaning it out with a paper towel and a thin fork or spoon handle. I looked a serval of these pressure cookers on Amazon. Lot of the pressure cookers good reviews, but I always look at the bad reviews. Several of them have a common theme of they stop working around 6 to 8 months later due to the cooker stopped building steam. One of the Instant Pots caught fire and a German made model blew the lid off while cooking. The Presto got good reviews including the previous model ... show more
