Description

Best hot air popper! Convenient, natural and light! Pops regular or gourmet popping corn with hot air, not oil, for a healthy, low calorie treat ! Fast! Pops up to 18 cups of gourmet corn in less than 2 1/2 minutes. Leaves virtually no un-popped kernels. 120 volts, 60 Hz only. Plug in Presto’s PopLite and the party begins. In less than 2-1/2 minutes you’ll have up to 18 cups--two large bowlfuls--of fluffy popcorn with virtually no unpopped kernels. And because the machine uses hot air instead of oil, the resulting snack is healthier and lower in calories. That’s not to say you can’t add butter; in fact, the 1/2-cup measuring cup on top of the popper doubles as a butter melter. Simply put in the desired amount of margarine or butter (room temperature is best), and it melts from the heat produced during the popping process. The clear plastic cover and cup, which must stay on during popping so the popped corn doesn’t fly all over the room, easily remove for hand cleaning with warm, soapy water. No other clean-up is required. While a few unpopped kernels spring out the chute as the machine begins to heats up, the chute does a good job of directing the popped corn into a bowl. The popper measures 14 by 9 by 6-1/2 inches, and is identical to Presto’s Orville Redenbacher Hot Air Corn Popper except for color and logo. Presto covers 1 year limited warranty. --Ann Bieri NOTE: State of California Proposition 65 requires that we include the following warning: WARNING! It offers a faster, healthier, and more economical choice than microwave-bag popcorn. Use regular or gourmet popcorn with terrific results--virtually no unpopped kernels. Up to 18 cups of gourmet popcorn are popped in less than 2-1/2 minutes, up to 40 percent faster than other leading hot air poppers. Butter melter doubles as a handy measuring cup. One-year limited warranty. 120 Volts AC, 1440 Watts. See more

  • Made much sturdier than old models from the 80's and 90's. Easy to use.
Size: 18 Cups Color: Red
This was a gift for my husband. He said that microwave popcorn wasn't good for you. The Poplite popcorn popper worked great, and our popcorn was ready in minutes. Now we just need to remember what seasonings we used. It's easy to take apart to wash it. This is made better that our old air popcorn popper. Our old one was difficult to snap together. ... show more

  • Great - Presto Poplite Plus in all Aqua w/ power switch
Size: 18 Cups Color: Aqua
Just bought the Presto Poplite Plus (solid Aqua with the power button) and have used it twice so far. Works great. Pour in the butter/scoop full as instructed then turn the machine on. Pops popcorn and there are maybe a dozen un-popped kernels at most. I’ve only had 2 un-popped kernels come out of the machine and into the bowl in the 2 full batches I’ve made. No burnt popcorn, pops popcorn in a few minutes, doesn't require oil, easy to clean, compact size, is loads of fun to watch! I highly recommend. So much better than the microwave popcorn bags The plastic cover and butter melter do get quite warm so I can see how people would be melting the cover and butter dish if they preheat the machine or run it consecutively and don’t give the machine time to cool down between batches. ... show more

  • Good Basic Popper at a Reasonable Price
Size: 18 Cups Color: Red
Basic and functional. Doesn't take up a lot of space and pops a large bowl of popcorn (see photo). Pops almost all of the corn kernels, is easy to clean, sleek design, pops corn in a few minutes. I haven't used the butter melt cup on top and probably won't. It doesn't have an on/off switch so you have to plug it in and unplug each time, which I found odd, but maybe that's typical for corn poppers? The top DOES get hot, so let it cool before removing. ... show more

  • Presto Makes Popping Popcorn Perfection!
Size: 18 Cups Color: Red
Popping Popcorn is easy and Presto has made it Perfect. Has 1-2 kernels that doesn't get popped per 1/2 cup, never burns popcorn and doesn't require oils to pop. Be prepared to be amazed how much popcorn will be made with only a 1/2 cup of kernels, use at least a 3.7 liter bowl to 4 liter bowl that is about 16.9 cups or about a gallon container. I used real butter melted in the microwave and salt to flavor the popcorn in the bowl, never put the butter in the air popper. I would paid extra money for a Stainless Steel model if Presto made them. Quality is first rate and much better tasting than the microwave popcorn. Doesn't have a switch to turn it on and off, which I would prefer, no chemical smells come from the unit at all, very happy with this purchase. ... show more

  • Easy, fast, no burnt kernals - love it!!
Size: 18 Cups Color: Yellow
I had a hot air popper growing up back in the <mumbles a decade>'s and wanted to try one again. I have to say...this works fantastic. Super fast at popping, and the design is easy to set up and put away with a fairly small footprint for storage. I haven't had any burnt popcorn at all and love how quick it is to pop a big bowl. So glad I picked up another and am reliving my childhood memories! ... show more

  • Maybe defective? And Troublesome
Size: 18 Cups Color: White
Edit at the bottom. It pops popcorn. If that’s all you need then it’s okay. My two star for this is because of the inconveniences and hassles. The minor one is how the measuring cup/machine needs have to have a certain amount of kernels when popping, otherwise the kernels get blown out of the spout. You can’t do a small batch if you wanted to. The machine either needs to have a less powerful fan or have a taller heating tube so the kernels don’t rise so high when popping that they fly out. Once popped then they are light and big enough to catch air to escape. Which would make sense. But, why have a machine that makes a mess and ends up with too many kernels in the serving bowl at the bottom. Wasteful My other issue is the measuring cup itself. This issue deserves a 1 star. The measuring cup doubles as a spot to melt butter, very cool and neat. The butter should be room temp when doing it, not refrigerated. However, my issue with this is that the hot air flows past the measuring cup handle. The cup does not seal against the clear cover and so the handle of the cup will get extremely hot. I find this wrong and somewhat of a dumb design. I’m sure there is an explanation for this from the company as to why it is that way, but it is a hazard nonetheless. If the reason is so you leave it alone til it cools, leaving time for the butter to melt, it isn’t in the instructions. Burning my fingers while using the product as it was intended is not okay. I know first world problems. But don’t get this machine, it’s messy enough and slightly dangerous that it’s not worth the trouble. They reinvented the wheel here and decided to add the feature of burning you while they were at it. Edit: I changed my rating to a three, it was two. The reason for the change is because I am using it differently enough for it to work better. In the beginning of a “popcorn cook” I will leave the butter melter top off and place the top back on once about 4-8 kernels has popped. That way it doesn’t shoot the kernels out as much. At the end of the cook you will need to either try the lid off again or have a towel in front to reduce the airflow in order for the kernels not to fly out. And also, don’t use it to melt butter, it’s still not a smart idea. You’ll burn you fingers. This advice here is in no way a recommendation, it’s just what I’ve had to do in order to not have so many kernels in the popcorn bowl. This advice is also most likely against the manufacturers guidance and recommendations. Do not take my statements as advice. ... show more

  • Darn good popper but don't put the measuring cup in a microwave
Size: 18 Cups Color: Yellow
I was using a cast iron frying pan with a little oil in it but this is way better. Also better than microwave popcorn. Makes super fluffy popcorn, no burnt kernels, more kernels fully pop, and of those few that don't pop, some stay in the machine so they're a little easier to separate. Seems to be just as fast as popping them on a stove top or in a microwave. I find that it can help to tilt the popper back a little so that unpopped kernels are less likely to get blown out, especially so with some smaller kernels such as white popcorn. Once the chamber fills with popped kernels, they tend to hold the unpopped ones in the chamber. The measuring dish is sort of effective in melting butter but some remains unmelted. I put the yellow dish in the microwave to finish the job but the hot butter melted the plastic. Bad idea. ... show more
