I use this kennel for my Doodle. She is long legged and about 43 pounds. This kennel is big enough for her to stand up and turn around. She can lay comfortably and the side door makes it easy to place in our living room. The tray slides out easy and is easy to keep clean. The divider that comes with the kennel is a little challenging to get in and secure but it’s doable. We used the divider at first housebreaking and it helped to make her space a little smaller while she was learning. The doors pull up and out to open and up and in to close. There are bent half loops that rest inside and around a wire to help secure the door better. I love this feature. We have not had any escapes from this kennel. There is a handle on top to help move this kennel around. It is rather large, but collapses if you need to store it. We have had this kernel for some time now and it has been a great buy! I would not rate this kennel as a travel kennel, it’s more for home. If you do travel with it, it would likely fit in the back of an SUV, but have never tested this theory. ***I just received my third precision crate. My mom rescued a German shepherd puppy and we needed a 48 inch for him. Beautiful crate. Shipped quickly. I already know it will hold up since my other are quite old and used but still in great shape! My original precision pet crate is a 3rd generation hand down. Not sure how old..but u just can't hurt this thing. My new pup out grew the med size original one, so I ordered this 42 inch one..So many other brand crates got wider and longer..but only slightly taller..that was my main issue was needing several inches taller..So the measurements, for me, were perfect. I am involved in dog rescue. I have used/borrowed many different crates..this is what makes Precision stand out..there are 4 small hooks that u lift up and over to lock the door in place, and then u latch it. Double lock. It actually turns it into almost a solid door, it gives ZERO..If u have an escape artist, on a regular crate, the bottoms and tops give slightly with the latches more towards the center...They can get hurt trying to get out..with this locking system...its full proof and def safer. On other reviews I read that the newer models do not have the quality of older ones..I disagree..yes, the wiring is slightly different and the latches are smaller, but there are 4 instead of 2..One guy said the black bottom pan cracked..I really don't get what in the world you could do to make that happen...There is just no way, when used properly and in the bottom, locked in place, that this could happen... My dogs are my children. I am so so picky. And being in rescue I have been exposed to so many products. This is my choice. I looked at many used crates on craigslist for $50..in the end, I had to have this one. Good luck! ... show more

This is my second crate from this brand. I purchased the first one 15 years ago and it is still in great condition. I needed something larger for our new growing puppy and I decided to stick with this brand because the old one has held up so well. I really like that they upgraded to the 5-point locking system on the doors. My old dog could open the old version by clawing at it repeatedly, I had to purchase a clip to keep her in. This new feature will prevent that from happening and is easy to use. The cage is sturdy just like the older version. Love that it folds up for storage and travel. I love this crate. More importantly, my dogs love these crates! Buy this one. I have 3 from Amazon, and love them. I have referred many dog owners to this crate. It holds a 90 pound dog, has a divider, is VERY secure, sturdy, chew-proof, attractive, easy as it arrives mostly assembled, just pop it up, click a few latches, and pops back up, flattens out for pet transportation, travel.a The tray in the crate is easy to clean, hose it off, and dry. I have one crate out by the pool in the shade, since the dogs are outdoors with us during the days, enjoying the sunshine, and lawn. They enjoy playing, wear themselves out, and always leave the door open so our dogs can go in, and out when they wish. (This crate has two doors, one on the side, one on the end, with SECURE double latches, very convenient!) They prefer to nap in their crate, and feel safe there. Dogs must be crate-trained from the beginning for their own protection and you need peace of mind. People who let their dogs, particularly new puppies, run loose are not doing the dogs a favor. Our dogs love their "houses", and sleep inside in these indoor crates each night. I have a baby 23 pound blue nose pit bull, and a 80 pound year old red nose and they both go into the crate and crash out together:) I would not recommend buying the high dollar crate cushions if you have a new puppy. They have chewed through many on my watch, so now use sheets, and no chewed up cushions. I will buy another cushion for this crate after the puppy is finished teething.     • HEAVY DUTY CRATE, BUT THIN TRAY AND LOW HEIGHT
Size: 48.0"L x 30.0"W x 32.0"H Pattern Name: Dog Crate
The tray was badly damaged, probably dropped in transit. This is a very heavy crate, but the tray is thin. The crate is reasonably well-built with reasonably good materials for a folding crate, but dropping the package is probably responsible for the hinges being distorted leading to some misalignment upon unfolding and a slightly shorter crate. Height is a very important aspect of a crate. A dog should be able to sit comfortably, which is why crates at one time were typically 36" in height. Measure your dog from floor to top of ears before choosing a crate. This one is 31.5". I needed one with a side-opening door for travel, and for trips, it will be OK but not as comfortable for her that she needs to lie down during travel. The crate, once damage was resolved, folds and unfolds easily, and the single handle improves ease of use. The wire spacing is close enough to discourage crate-busters. Of the crates commonly available now, this is one of the better options. ... show more

I purchased the large (42") 2-door for our golden retriever puppy. I was looking for a crate that closed securely with no gaps at the doors and this one boasted a 5-point locking system. Really impressed with this. It closes easily and securely by slightly lifting the door and sliding the closure into place. It's a solid, heavier crate, and I have no doubt it will hold up well as our puppy grows. This one comes with a divider which keeps her space small and grows as she grows. Divider goes in ok — not the easiest but eventually it goes into place. Because we're still using the divider, we haven't used the side door yet but i do like the option for future flexibility. The puppy loves it! She goes right in and settles down for the night or just when she's tired. This crate is sturdy, and it's not the easiest thing to move around the house. Folds down pretty easily but the large crate is heavy so moving it upstairs can be cumbersome. But it can be done….and that wasn't the most important feature in choosing a long-term crate for our dog. You'll have a crate for a long time, perhaps the life time of your dog so it's worth finding one that is strong and well built and this one certainly fits the bill. 5 stars for me! ... show more

my 2 miniature schnauzers and boxer/beagle mix fit fine. good quality. wouldn't recommend it for a dog that would bite and pull on it continuously. Instructions were inside but easy enough to figure out. I was surprised it was basically all assembled.

After much research I decided on purchasing this crate for my newest dog. I have a 45 pound pitbull mix, but wanted a crate that could fit my 75 pound pitbull if needed. My newest smaller dog is also very crafty, and we because we had only had her for about a month at the time we weren't sure if she would try to break out or not, so we wanted something secure, and that would also be easy to travel with (she is a rescue so we have no background info. on her). This crate is perfect! It took me about 2 minutes to get put it together after taking out of the box. She has plenty of room to completely stretch out, turn around, etc. The 75 lb dog fits, but I def. would not recommend this size for long periods of time for a 75 pound dog. We took the crate to a hotel for a weekend stay, and it was very easy to collapse and carry. Again, took 2 minutes to snap together in the hotel room. The collapsed crate also fit find in the back of our Jetta wagon. The 2 doors is also nice for location options. We plan to purchase the bigger version for our 75 lb dog soon. Also, the double locking system is awesome. She hasn't yet - but if she were to get the sliding pin open, she wouldn't be able to lift the door up. ... show more
