  • Great mower with a side of humor
This is one of the best mowers for the price. It mows great. One pull automatically starts, no priming. Got it put together easily, I tighten down the bolts so the wouldn't lose and made sure the easy to attach nuts were alighted so they didn't strip out. If your wondering, I did buy this, been using it all summer, just wanted to educate the one star review person that doesn't know jack, it's a gas mower not electric. My only complaint is the bag, it gets clogged to easy, also no recommendations on replacement blades. ... show more

  • Not as advertised
Style: B&S E550 Push
I was led to believe this was an automatic start with no prime or pull. NOT TRUE! It needs priming, and the cord needs pulling. I couldn't get it to start. Felt like I was pulling my arm off. Which is one reason I wanted this so I didn't have to pull a cord. It's raining now so I won't be able to see if I can get to start until later in the week, but right now I'm not happy with it. If I can get it to start and it cuts my grass, I'll revise this rating and update my review. operation mode "Automatic start" is what was advertised; no priming necessary. Ok,I was able to use it. It mows great. But, they lied about no priming needed and automatic start. You do have to prime and you do have to pull a cord. Once it runs it runs great but it shut off once and I had to wait 20 mins before it would start again. To me, automatic start means using a button or switch, not pulling a cord. Also, the mud flap or whatever you call it broke half off in 20 mins and the part to hold the cord against the handle flew off to God only knows where within 5 min's of use. Also, the nut won't stay on the bolt. It's too loose. I took it to ACE Hardware to see if they had one that would fit and they didn't but suggested using superglue. They said the nut sent was stripped. So we'll see if superglue works. I have things to do and won't be using it again for 2 more days.At anyrate it mows great but not being as advertised kills the rating, that plus a lack of support. The support team never got back to me, and it's been 2 days so the 2-star rating stands. OK, at least I'm getting a refund. I was told to keep it or get rid of it. So today (Sunday June 15h ) I gave it one more try and now it fell apart completely. Now with both screws on the handles are stripped and won't stay on so it's useless. Changing my ratting to 1 star, but only because there's nothing there for 0 stars. I would stay away from this brand if I were you. You've been warned. ... show more

  • Great lawn mower.
My husband and I are in our 70's and still like to mow our yard. We have extremely thick grass bermuda and zoysia in our ditch. We had a $500 Toro with a Briggs and Stratton but it was so hard to change blade height, the drive was a workout and backing up a workout, plus heavy. We bought this lawn mower because of the reviews the easy blade adjustment, how light it was, easy drive and the reviews were correct. Easy assembly out of the box, light, easy blade adjustment, self propulsion, started up first pull and mowed perfectly through our thick grass. We also like to catch all the clippings not having a thatch buildup on our lawn. So far it is working awesome and happy for the purchase and the reviews. ... show more

  • Self propelled mowers move fast.
This mower starts right up. The self propelled works fine but makes mower too fast for me.

  • Worst excuse for a lawnmower!
Style: B&S E550 Push
Added oil included to the mark on the dipstick per instructions and added gasoline. Mowed one strip and quit. Was smoking out the breather vent and foam filter was soaked in gas. Checked the oil level and started again and engine started making a metal screeching sound and blew the side out by the oil dipstick and oil all over the ground. I have been using mowers for over 50 years and know how to check the oil dipstick and used 1/2 a bottle of the oil sent with it. Now going to have to travel two hours to the nearest dealer to ... show more

  • Perfect for my lawn.
Style: B&S E550 Push
Just what the doctor ordered. Its exactly what I needed. Nothing less and nothing more. Sets up in a few minutes with no tools and comes with oil. I have a smallish lawn that's flat so I didn't need self propelled but I wanted a rear bagger. I'm happy.

  • Terrible Lawn Mower and Even Worse Customer Support
Style: B&S E550 Push
This lawn mower has been absolute trash since inception. And this isn't a case of user error. I've been mowing my own lawns for over 30 years and I'm quite familiar with how to use a lawn mower. Trust me folks, this brand is pure junk! It requires 5+ pulls to get it started, even with proper priming and use of a fresh, high quality gasoline. After you finally get it started, it'll turn off on you for no reason with no blade obstruction. Additionally, it's anything but smooth as you push it. And the kicker... ZERO customer support from the manufacturer!! I've written to them three times over the last 3 weeks and I have not received a single response from them. Evidently, all PowerSmart wants is your money for their inferior products. Shame on me for being late to open the box and therefore missing Amazon's 30-day return window. Don't be fooled by the reasonable price tag and perceived value of their lawn mowers. If you want a reliable lawn mower that simply cuts your lawn, avoid PowerSmart! A big box store economy brand would run circles around this sad excuse of a mower. ... show more
