This was quite a surprise treat when I stumbled upon it on Amazon. It sounded like a very good product to have when reading the description, and upon receiving it, I really did enjoy all the options for use: - having this plug into a USB port as opposed to power outlet was genius. I tried attaching it to an older power bank I used for my cell phone, and it ran for hours and hours with no problem, and essentially is not bogged down with having to be close to a power outlet. - the translucent bag it comes with does function well as a lantern when you put the lights in it and turn it on--bonus use, since you can hang the bag from something. - it also comes with custom ties that you can adjust for various lengths, to hang the lights or attach them with, which is a nice option. - it also has some plastic anchors with magnets built in, so you can attach the light strip easily to any metal surface. - the battery that comes with it also has the added bonus of LED bulbs across the side, so you have an instant flashlight there as well. Overall a great product to have--can use it for temporary lighting across the household, or more functional flashlight in the car, or outdoors. So many possible uses!

I saw this product on the new products page and thought this would be a great product for camping so I purchased it. Here are my thoughts: The build quality is good. It feels slightly flimsy but you get used to the fact that it simply has to be this flexible to operate as designed. When used as a strip light the LEDs produce a very nice amount of light. I used it for camping in the bed of my pickup and it was great. When used as a lantern with the included bag it produces enough light but it still seems like I would rather use a flashlight for walking around camp at night. The battery life is very good and the power source can be used as a light itself which is very helpful if you are trying to find the strip in the dark. The power source switch on mine is slightly intermittent when switching to flashlight mode but it has never faltered for battery pack mode. This could be a one-off thing and it's few and far between so I didn't deduct any stars for it. Overall I love it and would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a way to illuminate their camper, tent, hammock, etc...

I bought this for a fun Father's Day gadget for my husband. Since then we have taken it camping and LOVED how it worked for that purpose! My husband is also looking forward to using it when working on his automotive projects. My 10 year old son loves it so much (riding around in the dark on his bike, etc.) that he got online and bought one for himself with his allowance. Because of the reviews on here I did buy the battery pack that goes with this just for the on and off switch. Like I said my son bought this luminoodle and has been using it with another USB battery pack we have, and it's a HUGE pain to plug and unplug when you don't want it lit. Having an on and off switch on your battery pack is a must. Another thing that's kind of ironic is that it says it's waterproof, but the battery pack isn't- so just keep that in mind too. I gave it 5 stars because its innovative and works for the purpose we will mainly use it for which is camping. LOVE it for camping! Great product!

Not sure if it's the ones I bought or the product itself but, the charge life to these lights do not last but a couple hours then they go out fast. I loved the compact size and usefulness of these lights - they put off a ton of light that is bright and perhaps this cause the short battery life. I have to typically recharge every day before using just 2-2.5 hours. But, great for having on a vehicle when car camping, inside a tent or around an RV. They honestly put off a bright light and allow for easy visibility outdoors and the bag is great too because you can stuff the lights inside it and you have a handy lantern to carry on a trail or to the potty in the middle of the night. I would suggest buying these for outdoor or even an emergency inside your home.

I really wanted to like these things, but in practice they just don't work well. For camping, they lack the ability to be dimmed is a problem using them as a tent light: they're too bright! Being tethered to the battery directly (though I suppose you could add an extension cable) and the tiny switch on the battery makes them difficult to turn on and off. They'd be much more at home as a cooking or work light if you needed more light, but I'm not sure they'd be bright enough for anything other than emergency use as a work light. On the brighter side (ha!) they're pretty well made and the ties and bag they come with work well. Overall, I chose to keep them, but only just. If returning them was free I would have done so.

This unit is small enough you can throw it in or hang it on the outside of a pack, but bright enough to illuminate the hole inside of a six person tent with the little keepers to hang up the strand. I use it quite a bit just stuffed inside the bag being translucent enough to wear still gives off plenty of light. A nice thing is you can plug it into just about any power bank, and the power bank it comes with you can also use to charge your phone and whatever else you might need to in a pinch. On a single charge I’ve used this light for at least 3 to 4 hours a night on four separate nights while hiking in the back country. It works great as a lantern as well in the bag when you’re running out to find a spot to relieve yourself in the morning before the sun‘s up.

We gave these to our son's Scout master and others who put in so much effort for the boys. It was affordable, but still really cool. On their campout this last weekend, all the adults were in a wall tent and they had their little string lights above their cots. One did say he planned to use it when he was working on the car this week--the magnets are a smart addition! I think I'll buy more of these as gifts--and maybe one for myself :)
