More expensive than camera model ambilight systems, but I'm very happy with the responsiveness and quality of the HDMI box. 4k works fine, also works fine with my Sonos soundbar. It will turn itself off automatically with the TV, but on mine I have to turn the lights on with the phone app. This might just be my TV. Other than having some issues getting Bluetooth to connect before switching to WiFi it’s been smooth sailing. BTW there are two buttons on the main box not one. Instructions omitted this. The product isn’t bad. The 3M stickers to stick the light strip to the back aren’t good. And the cables at each edge are difficult to hide. I needed additional, much stronger tape to fixate these and hide them. Otherwise they are visible and it doesn’t look good. The other downside is you rely on the app. Before that, I would connect various devices like game console and Apple TV to different HDMI ports directly to my TV. And my TV would automatically turn on and detect the port of the turned on device. My TV would be in sleep mode and if I turned on my console it would switch to that. Now given all inputs to into this device, the automation is gone. I need to manually switch to a diff port. The auto detection doesn’t work. So, those things are an issue. But otherwise it’s a good product. Hence giving it 4 stars. The light works well and reacts quite fast to the screen. ... show more

    • Great option for a lower price point than the Hue system

It somewhat puzzles me one would think this works like the camera system - but without a camera. It clearly says HDMI sync box in the product title and description. Anyhoo, I own both the Hue system and now the Govee sync box 2. Setup of the Govee box was a bit tricky, especially as a sound system is part of my setup. The Hue box is a bit more flexible when it comes to that. Once installed, latency and colors are excellent - without the need for having the annoying camera mounted onto your TV. Colors are vivid, not 100% accurate, and customization options are extensive (almost too extensive for my taste, but that’s a general issue with the current Govee app). The auto-off feature is convenient. The Philips Hue system offers a bit more convenience at a much higher price, so you better decide for yourself. However, the quality and customization options are pretty great and syncing the box with other Govee lights is flawless. Auto-on once an HDMI signal is detected, and automatic switching to the active HDMI input source like with the Hue system, would be awesome. Maybe that’s an option for a firmware upgrade in the future 🤞🏻 For now, I’ve connected it to the 15 bucks Govee remote, and put all 4 HDMI input sources on a dedicated button, together with the “On” option. Works well so far. To wrap this up: great system that does not need to hide behind the Hue Sync Box (whose color accuracy is superior) for a much lower price. Thumbs up! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. This actually deserves a one star review for the price point it’s selling for. High hopes for this thing and delivered zero. Everything looks great opening the box, set up is a pain in the you know what considering the strips barely make it onto a 75” tv without using a ton of clips for the bends. Get it all hooked up and it looks pretty good on my Xbox Home Screen. From there it’s a nightmare. Flickering as other reviewers mentioned for dark scenes is dreadful. Cutscene transition from full screen to wide screen is a mess. The sync box doesn’t understand what’s going on and goes haywire; takes about ten seconds for it to catch on. Alright, it’s not great for games so let’s try a show or movie. Again, the flickering is so bad that it’s distracting. The “black bar” option for widescreen movies they created is absolutely useless and just causes erratic flashing lights. Overall for $300, I feel like I got ripped off and Govee for once has to be paying for these lights to get positive reviews. Every YouTuber will recommend them and they’re one of the worst products from Govee I’ve had. My T1 in comparison works way better from four years ago than this garbage.
