Pour-over coffee is pretty simple, right? Even if you used to be a barista, it's nice when you order something online to have some basic information enclosed in the package. The POUR-OVER COFFEE MAKER came in a box with exactly what I ordered: a pour-over coffee set consisting of one carafe and a metal filter. There was nothing else except some cardboard packed around the carafe. I would expect to see SOMETHING written. Usually, a company will include a thank you note, or info on how to get a hold of them, but most importantly, info about the product. Is it dishwasher safe? How big should the grind be for the coffee? How much coffee vs. water should you start with, before adjusting for taste? Do I need a paper filter to put inside the metal filter? Here is what I have concluded after making my first cup of pour-over coffee: My coffee was either the wrong grind, or you absolutely need a paper filter. The water just poured straight through the metal filter, taking an unpleasant amount of grains with it. The result: coffee that was more water than coffee with too many coffee grains floating in my cup to spoon out. Proportions of water to coffee can be looked up online or may be written on the packaging of whatever coffee you are using. Maybe everyone but me already knows how much coffee to use per cup, when making pour-over coffee, but if preground coffee companies can put a measuring devise inside their packages, it seems like a more permanent product should at least enclose written directions. The set itself is a nice size, and attractive to look at. The filter seems built to last, but I have one more concern: The carafe is made up of scary thin glass. I am afraid of tapping it too hard on the sink or counter and having it crack on me. Over the last few years, I managed to break 2 of those pitchers that go on our blender, and you know how thick that glass is! I am rather afraid that this pretty little carafe is no match for my occasional "klutz in the kitchen" act. I am going to buy some paper filters and try it again. If that works, I will continue to use it by handling it with care!

The media could not be loaded. It works pretty good. I'm no expert on brewing coffee but it looks like it made coffee. lol Anyways this will be really convenient with my water cooler/dispenser because it also does hot water. Now I can pour it directly from the dispenser into this to make coffee and tea. Now the nitpicky stuff. The little rubber pad on the filter falls off really easily and I wouldn't trust holding just that, could easily drop the filter. Also the etchings on the glass are kinda burnt/stained on some of them. Neither of those issues will keep this from working, just making note of it. EDIT: this works MUCH better with a paper filter in it. The coffee it made was a little weak without it, the filter slows down the brewing a bit and makes it taste much better.

A while back I got a pour over coffee maker, it was just a porcelain holder for a #2 paper cone with a hole at the bottom, and it was OK. This is definitely an A+. I love the filter, I tried it with some finely ground coffee (though not an espresso grind) and not a speck of coffee got into the coffee. I appreciate that the hot water doesn't touch any plastics, only metal and glass, so I know my coffee is free of contaminants, and it all goes nicely into the dishwasher if I want for easy cleanup. The water goes through the filter a little bit faster than a drip coffee machine, but not too much faster, and my coffee had plenty of flavor to it. I love the styling of the pot, though that is personal preference. The one thing you might not like is that the filter doesn't do great over a single cup of coffee, though it isn't horrible either. Overall, I am absolutely delighted with this coffee maker. J.Ja
