First impression, this is a quality product. The glass carafe is made of borisilicate glass, which is strong, heat resistant, and can withstand temperature changes unlike standard glassware. The design of the carafe is lightweight with beautiful and functional lines, a good shaped handle and, the added measurements on the side not only look good but are a nice feature. The filter is the standard dual wall stainless steel filter, and unlike some I have used in the past, this one allows the water to flow through the grinds and filter freely without clogging up. I should point out, when washing the filter, ONLY rotate the washcloth/sponge counter clockwise on the inside of the filter. This way you will not "lift" up the inside mesh and break the seam. I would also recommend a light soak in hot water after washing (you can use a little distilled vinegar in the soak to clean thoroughly) followed by another light wash and rinse. This helps to eliminate build up and residue of coffee oils. Also included, which to be honest, is my new favorite piece of coffee equipment, the acacia wood handled stainless steel coffee scoop. It is the perfect shape and size. Acacia wood is by far the ideal choice. Acacia wood is durable, dense, hard, does not scratch easily, water resistant, is not prone to warping, and is antibacterial. This is why you will see cutting boards and food serving trays and/or kitchen items made with acacia wood. Excellent choice. One last thing I should mention, when brewing with a stainless steel filter instead of paper, I find that I have to adjust my grind size just a little finer to accommodate the faster flow rate. For those who haven't tried both methods, the steel filter has less resistance, therefore, the water flows though more quickly than paper. Also, the steel filter eliminates the paper taste, which, no amount of rinsing will fix. The end result, a clean, well balanced, cup of coffee.

I first fell in love with these mesh-lined coffee filters when I discovered them, and Barista Warrior, in May of 2020. It is still in perfect condition and far surpasses the performance of the previous stainless steel one I had been using from another brand. I use it for all of my coffee needs, with my Chemex pour over. When I saw this new kit I was extremely excited, as the filter itself is well worth getting the kit for! I was surprised to see that it was even the same size as the one that I purchased separately (where I had assumed it might be a smaller version in the kit). I enjoy the design of the carafe, and the fact that it has an attached handle!!! This is a very welcomed change to my usual routine of grabbing a hot pot of coffee through those wooden chemex handles - yes it can still burn a bit! I like how sleek this carafe looks, even with the measuring system printed on it - however, I would probably prefer it without. I'm a big fan of the periodic element-style logo, which is now included on each item. The wide opening makes for easy cleaning, as I can actually fit my hand into it. I appreciate how the filter rests on the rim of the glass and does not sink into the pot - where it does in my chemex. This seems to provide better coverage against outside elements, but most of all easier removal at hot temperatures. I can't tell you how many times I've burned myself grabbing the rim where I can get a grip inside the carafe - at the steamy air gap. While I am used to a 10 cup carafe, and generally brew more than I need at a time for the convenience, I really enjoy the size of this pot. It still holds a decent amount of coffee and its compact size allows it to fit in small spaces within your refrigerator. Different size options may be of interest to some who drink either more, or less, though. This scoop was another added bonus that I am happy to convert to. I've been using the plastic one that came with my grinder but this has a slightly larger capacity, and seems far more durable - not to mention it's aesthetically pleasing. Sometimes it's really just about the little things that simplify your routine, and this set does that for me. Both cute and functional, I absolutely recommend this pour over kit!

1. I really like the new stainless steel coffee filter. The coffee tasted fresh and clean. I expect this filter will not be problematic getting clogged as the filter holes in the screen seem a bit larger. 2. The water filters nicely into the carafe, some of the oil is visible on the brewed coffee after the water filters through the filter, the taste of the coffee is great, and I like the silicone part of the filter that sits on the glass carafe. 3. The glass carafe is a nice shape, and is easy to pour from and clean. I hand clean my coffee supplies. 4. I hope the glass is slightly tougher than previous glass carafes I have owned. 5. I think the directions for measuring the coffee could be clearer. I have a digital scale, but if a person doesn't have a scale, it might be difficult to figure out the proper amount of ground coffee to use. 6. I measured out the weight of the ground coffee in a scoop to be about 9 grams (1/4-ounce). I looked up somewhere on line, the proper weight of coffee grounds to water and discovered the best is about 18 grams of coffee (2 slightly rounded scoops of medium grind---count to 10) to about 285-88 grams of water on the carafe measure. 7. Is it possible to print on the carafe the amount of coffee per grams of water? 8. I think customers might get frustrated not knowing, by just reading the directions, how much coffee/water they should use for a proper brew. It isn't clear. I wrote on my card the proper amount of coffee to water ratio for future uses. 9. Also, while I know it is difficult to describe the proper size of the ground coffee beans, it would also be helpful for newer coffee drinkers. I use a Krupps burr grinder. I look forward to continuing using the filter and carafe. I really like not using paper filters and losing the tasty coffee oils in the paper. Thank you. Tina
