This clay handle former looks and works just like the expensive brand. I appreciate that I can get more bang for my buck when buying a one use tool. The cutting blade is clean edged and sharp so it makes a good handle without a whole bunch of deformations that then need to be cleaned up. My only complaint, and the reason I took one star off, is because the handle is a bit too small. I'd prefer if the handle were a little larger to make it easier to drag through the clay slab or block. ... show more

This is an inexpensive Diamond Core knockoff. It lacks the heft in the handle and solid feeling, but actually works pretty well. The metal seems a bit flimsy and probably will become dull quickly, but given the low price, I'm pleasantly surprised by how well it works. It's not very easy to keep clean, but since you can unscrew the bolt if you want, that might be a way to get it more thoroughly clean. If you only do handles occasionally, this is a great tool. If you have to do a ton of them, a splurge on the real thing is a smarter move. ... show more

This thing cuts through clay like butter! It was so smooth and easy to use! One pull and I didn’t have to fight the clay and the handle came out wonderfully. The wood handle is solid and I haven’t yet played with the settings to make the top go back any bc I liked the setting it came one. It does get some extra clay on the sides, but that is typical in other extenders I’ve used- but easy to sponge down. Easy to take with me back and forth in my carrying case to the studio and back. The handle makes the cup, IMO, but I'm primarily a sculptor, so I've never mastered pulling handles. So I've avoided making more mugs. A viscous circle... This tool cuts a comfortably porportioned handle, with a little flair. Easy to use, easy to clean, and comfortable in the hand. The blade can be removed, and changed out or sharpened. It wants to be a Diamond Core tool so bad, but is very much not. It definitely has the crappy knock off vibe of retro engineered stuff from China. That bring said, it totally works. If you are going to make hundreds of handles, shell out for the Diamond Core tool because this it's built to last. This is a great option however if you want to try a handle cutter or don't like the Kemper ones. I personally think this is style is easier to use than ones that have to be perpendicular, but it's still never going to be a skillfully pulled handle. ... show more
