I use these augers differently. For the large one, I put my drill on the low setting and use it to till the soil in my raised bed garden. I pour a layer of compost on top and this bit helps me to mix it all together. For the small one, I use it for transplanting when I take my germinated and small plants from the indoor hydroponic unit out to the soil beds. They are very durable and work extremely well.     • Pointy Tips on the Auger Bit Set
This review is for the 2 piece auger bit set only. I used the 9" x 1.6" auger bit with my cordless drill to quickly dig all of the holes I needed for planting 64 begonia plants this spring. I found it to be much more efficient than my previous method of using a small hand trowel to dig each hole. Each auger bit has a fairly pointy tip, which I found to be unnecessary and unfortunate, particularly in soft soil. I managed to pierce my landscape irrigation hose by accident. I'll still use the auger bit next year, but not until after I've ground down the tip. ... show more

Really love to use this that I've began planting so much lately! Easy to use with practically any drill. The price set for the product is definitely worth the purchase. The quality is decent, but the use you give it really doesn't put too much strain on the tool. I've used this on really hard dirt with horrible rocky texture and it's been working great so far. These bits work very well in soft garden soil for planting bulbs or seedlings. One is basically 1 1/2 in x 9 inches and the larger one is 3 x 12 in. They are very sturdy and fit perfectly in my 3/8 drill as pictured. I should have gotten these sooner.
