    • Great chair, fits in hatchback, not for ungraded trails, no actual remote
HERE'S HOW I TRANSPORT this chair in my 2015 Nissan Leaf: I removed the headrests from the car's rear seats and folded the rear seats forward. I added a false floor to the trunk area (a cardboard box supporting a flat firm smooth object) so that the chair could rest on a surface that's at the same height as the bottom of the opening of the hatchback. I bought two narrow collapsible "silver spring" ramps weighing 6 lbs each. I lean one end of each ramp on the bumper, the other on the ground. I stand next to one ramp and use the joystick to drive the chair up almost to top of ramp. Then I turn off power, fold chair, and push to slide folded chair into hatchback. Then I collapse the ramps and place them next to the chair. I appreciate only having to push it about 8 inches (or pull it the same distance to reverse the process) and during that push or pull I am glad it is only 30 pounds. I never have to actually lift, just slide it. This works great if you can find a parking space with open room behind it. Many disabled parking spaces have extra space to the side because they expect you to have a wheelchair van and come out the side, but I cannot currently afford such a van. Fortunately I can usually find a parking place with room behind it. HERE'S WHAT IT IS LIKE TO RIDE IN THE CHAIR: As long as I am on a flat, level surface like an indoor floor (firm or with short carpet), a very manicured short lawn, or a cement plaza, it is smooth, slick, solid, safe, awesome! It is also just fine going on ramps that are ADA-compliant. On small gravel it does OK as long as there is no side-to-side tilt. Sadly, if there is side-to-side tilt or large gravel or just plain uneven ground, the steering goes all wonky and I have to try a 5-point turn. If that does not work, I have to turn off the power, switch it to Manual Mode (easy to do), and use my or my companion's physical power to get started in the right direction. Indoors there is a lovely small turning radius, but if you are new to a joystick there is still a learning curve. I bump into things. If I am sitting still and forget to turn off the power I can accidentally drive myself into obstacles when I reach for an object. I love how the arms easily swivel up and down so I can get in and out easily or move closer to a desk if I want. ABPUT THE BATTERY: Very easy to install, recharge, and use. Nice long battery life. HERE'S WHERE IT DID NOT MATCH THE AD: While it comes with a remote control, I don't think the remote works. The remote instructions say "Put the batteries into the battery case. Then..." I could not find any way to open the battery case to put the batteries in. I called the company and no one there knew how to open it either so they said they would call me back but I don't think they ever did. The main instruction book that came with the wheelchair does not say anything about a remote. For me this is not a problem because I am able to stand up for a few minutes. For someone who cannot stand and will rely on the remote to get the wheelchair up the ramps into a vehicle, it could be very important. LIMITATIONS I KNEW ABOUT BEFORE I BOUGHT: This is not a reclining wheelchair. This is not a beach-friendly wheelchair. This is not a backcountry wheelchair.     • This chair is AWESOME!
This chair is AWESOME!! Have previously owned "lightweight" portable electric power chairs, but they were still too heavy to easily lift into back of SUV. This chair is ULTRA LIGHTWEIGHT - what a difference. The chair feels very sturdy, maneuvers well, and is comfortable to sit in. Highly recommend.
