  • Easy to use but very heavy
Style: Standard Color: Silver
I just got mine today, so I haven't really had a chance to try it out yet. It's my first wheelchair, so I thought I'd write this review while all of it was still so new to me. I'll update as I get more practice with it. The chair was packaged very well by the supplier. The entire thing was in a plastic bag surrounded by a thick layer of sturdy styrofoam, then the plastic-wrapped box was wrapped with plastic straps. The chair can be tugged out of the box, but I would recommend laying it down and just cutting around the edges of the box to open it. It is much heavier than I was expecting, but it's also been a long time since I tried lifting 50 pounds. My 80-year-old mother and I can lift it together; we just can't go very far. Since I have MS and have days without a lot of arm strength, we're going to have to see about getting lightweight ramps to wheel the chair into her trunk. Folding and unfolding the chair is a smooth process that can be done with one hand. The locking latch moves easily, and you can hear the chair snap into place when it's upright. It does come with a very sturdy cover with large handles, but it doesn't arrive with the cover on it. I'm one of those people who has never mastered pillow cases, so we decided to leave the cover off unless we're traveling. The seat was comfortable, but I can see that a lot of time in it may require a bit more padding (and I have plenty of my own!). The back of the chair was a bit lower than I was expecting, so I don't think that this chair would be good for someone who has trouble sitting upright. I haven't attached the seatbelt yet, so I can't comment on it, but it appears to be sturdy and easy to use. The remote was easy to attach, but I would have preferred the wiring to be an inch or two longer. The two pieces barely reach other, so it takes some manual dexterity to hold them together long enough to tighten the fastener. Today was a good day for me, but I cannot remove the batteries at all. Even my 30-year-old son had difficulty with them, so I'm hoping that they slide easier as time goes on. The batteries also rub the sides of my calves, and that's going to be a bit of a problem if I'm in the chair for any length of time. I did find that it was quite comfortable to put my legs in front of the batteries and just let my feet dangle, but that won't work for everyone. The problem end caps came wrapped in foam, so I'm going to try adapting those pieces into permanent padded covers and see if that makes a difference. The footrest is more than big enough for my large feet, but it's not sturdy enough to use as a climbing step (what can I say? I'm new to this). Sit in the chair before putting your feet on it. The seat and back hide velcro webbing that can be used to adjust the slack if you don't like the factory setting. The back was a bit too relaxed for me at first, but I discovered that adjusting the seat cushion fixed that problem in a hurry. There is a pocket on the back of the chair that might hold a few sheets of paper, but the bag under the seat is large enough to hold the tools that come with it, a small bottle of water, and a few odds and ends. However, if you can't crouch down, this storage area won't be of use to you. There are plastic levers to raise the armrests, and bright orange ones to switch between "manual" and "electric". I don't like that the levers are plastic, because I'm worried about how well they'll hold up over time. The arm levers are very easy to move, but the orange ones require a bit more hand strength. You'll want to switch to "manual" before folding the chair or it's not going to move when you try rolling it. All in all, I'm very pleased with it so far! If you're not accustomed to joysticks, maneuvering the chair will take a bit of practice, but it's very smooth and easy to use. I didn't notice any jerks on starting or stopping, although the chair does make some disturbing clicks and whines until you really get moving. The manual says that this is normal. The chair went easily over carpeting and a few dog toys, and while I did bump into a few pieces of furniture I missed all the toes. With any luck, I'll be testing it in a public place over the next week and can let you know how it works on badly-paved parking lots, grass, and gravel. 22 Feb 2022: Finally had a chance to take this chair out in public, and I had a blast! The chair arrives set to the fastest speed, so you definitely want to knock it back a few levels before you start. At the fastest speed, you're going to have some sudden jerks until you learn how to control the gearshift. We were inside a big-box lumber store, and I had a lot of near misses until I realized that my speed was too high. Once I reduced it to 2 lights, I was fine. Outside of the store, I took it cruising through the parking lot. I'm a bad judge of math terms, but I estimate the grade of the lot to be 5-10 degrees. There was a noticeable slow down in speed while going up the hill, but I was still moving at a pretty fast pace. Given that I'm at the upper end of the weight limit, I think it did a pretty good job. Stay tuned for more updates as I get more experience! July 2022: Took mine on his first ever field trip today, and he did very well! I'm still bad at math, so I'm going to say that we were on a 10% slope in 4"-6" grass. There's been no rain recently, so the ground was solid. The chair did take a bit more effort to control, because the grass and natural lumps on the ground had the wheels finding their best surface, but there were no real issues. I just couldn't go in a perfectly straight line. It did stop dead when we ran into a 2" hidden root, but it did well going over sticks of 1" diameter and short stretches of knee-high weeds. The speed was slightly less than on pavement, but I still "outran" the walkers who were with me both directions. There were no problems with turning or tipping. It also worked well on packed gravel. 18 Sept 2022: Today, my chair disappointed me for the first time, although the fault is not actually with the chair. We attended a festival in a hilltop grove of trees. On the level areas, it did well in the grass but not on unpacked pea gravel. It went, but it was all over the place and made me look like a drunk driver. No issues with small roots or moving from grass to pavement. There was a bit of hesitation in packed sand. Going UP a 20 to 25-degree hill was no trouble at high speed, but going down was a little iffy. I had to use the lowest speed and drag my feet on the ground to help steer over the uneven surface. All in all, the chair performed well under the circumstances, but I would not want to be at that same location if I didn't still have the use of my legs and feet. As a side note, I've never attached the seatbelt and have never felt the need for it, even today. I also sat in the chair for more than 5 hours and had no discomfort. June 2023: I finally used the chair enough to run the batteries down by about 1/3. The chair still worked, but there was a noticeable drop in speed while going uphill, and the chair made a lot more whirring noises. Had I been on a flat, smooth surface, I doubt that I would have noticed a difference. I did use the chair quite a bit to get to that point, so I'm quite pleased with how long the batteries last. ... show more

  • Get your life back!!
Style: XL Color: Silver
Tl: Dr - 10/10 would buy again I am a plus size woman with a degenerative skeletal condition. Although I can use a cane for the most part now, there will be a time when I am wheelchair-bound. I wanted this to use primarily whenever I go to big box stores (Sam’s, Target, Walmart, Lowe’s, etc.) where the electric carts are often either in use, dead, or broken, or to use while traveling. Since I had a trip coming up and I have the available funds, I went ahead and bought it. I have used this chair extensively since receiving it, not quite three months ago - including a twelve day, three city vacation. My assessment is below. Pros: The chair comes almost completely assembled. (You do need to add the joystick and storage pouch underneath.) The batteries do already have a charge. You can literally use this chair within minutes of unboxing. The learning curve is slight. Some have complained about it being “jerky” when starting. Put the speed setting on three or less and it’ll fix that for you. It is truly multi-terrain. That said, it will not operate well in sand or on loose gravel. It does work on packed gravel. I was able to maneuver easily even in historic districts of several towns, and on rather steep inclines. When folded it is not much larger than a deluxe baby stroller, and only slightly heavier. Removing the batteries before lifting it will help here. The five speed settings are amazing. The batteries hold a charge extremely well. I did not have to charge my batteries the entire 12 days I was on vacation, even with daily use. It is very easy to clean. The seat cushion is very comfortable. It is fairly quiet. Customer service is top notch if you have an issue. (See below.) It looks awesome! Cons: I would have loved to have seen some type of hooking device or strap to help keep the frame closed when trying to load it. Sort of what strollers have. It is difficult to use a shopping cart or other basket system to hold items if shopping. (But you’d have that with pretty much any wheelchair.) Would really love to see some sort of basket accessory that could attach to the arm not utilizing the joystick. A friend made me some bags that hook over the arms which helps for small items. I’m not a fan of the back pouch thing, although it is useful for storing a poncho (get one big enough for the entire chair). It’s just not very accessible if you are traveling alone. It reclines more than I like, but that’s a personal preference. I purchased a lumbar seat cushion which solved the issue for me. I will say this: I did have an issue where the top part of the battery that shows the charge level came off and the battery was stuck inside the frame. I contacted customer service and they were kind, respectful, quick, and responsive (thank you Al!). They had a technician to my home in a few days to fix the issue. Inconvenient? Yeah, for a few days. But the communication was clear and frequent, and I was never left guessing. I was treated the way I would’ve wanted my mother treated if this was an issue for her. Tips: if you are inclined to leave the wheelchair in your vehicle, bring in the batteries and joystick. Neither like extreme temperatures and any type of batteries can combust if they get too hot. Slide the batteries in gently. When folded it can be tempting to drop the battery into the frame with a “thunk,” but that will put strain on the plastic cap that provides your battery level reading. Get a poncho that covers you AND the chair. Random thunderstorms and electronics don’t mix well. Enjoy your new freedom. 😊 ... show more

  • Hands down a quality, well-made Pocket-Rocket of a chair
Style: XL Color: Silver
I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and had two discs that bulged and caused weakness in my legs. I researched a LOT of moto-chairs & scooters. After reading all the reviews and researching the website for this one, it was my final decision, and I am extremely happy getting it. It's so easy to use, to fold away, store, and charging the batteries. I keep them installed and the chair folded tops out at 58 pounds but honestly feels much lighter when putting in our SUV. This chair has been a lifesaver for getting around during errand runs, going from parking lot to office space, and even rolling in the yards at our home. As part of my therapy, I've been able to put it in manual mode and walk behind it, helping me stay stable. This chair was one of the best investments I've ever made on my personal road to get and stay healthy as I approach my retirement years. At top speed, you can literally feel the wind in your face. I highly recommend this chair to anyone who's looking for a sturdy, well made, quality chair that will easily get them from point A to B without issue. ... show more
