I bought this to see if I could camp without using my generator. Just spent 5 full days in the mountains in Wyoming in October. Using this with a victron mppt solar controller it performed very well. I was getting 150-160 watts into my controller regularly. That would send 10-12 amps into my batteries. I was able to run my lights, heater(biggest draw) tv for a movie each night and even the occasional toaster or microwave use. I was generating about 1.4 kWh per day except Friday when it was partly cloudy and I still generated 1kwh. The using itself is easy to carry as it folds up nicely to a size about 2’ square. Relatively easy but a little awkward to set up, probably best to fold it out flat first, then try to put the legs down to slant it. The wind did blow it over on me twice. But it is generally pretty stable. Overall I am pleased just spent a week camping and never turned on my generator.

Somewhat unwieldy but very effective

I'm using this as a supplement to my 800W of fixed rooftop solar on my Lance 1062 camper. I recognized the need to chase the sun during an October turkey hunt. I purchased this for my following November deer hunt. I connected it via 25 foot SAE extension cable to a Victron 100/30 MPPT solar charge controller (SCC) placed under the camper then to a SAE pass-through port to the batteries. Due to the panel voltage (40V) it is important to use a MPPT SCC for voltage conversion to the batteries (12V). This unit consists of 4 separate panels, hinged by fabric between each panel, and using a simple "kickstand" behind each panel. There are fabric loops along the ground edge for stakes but nothing for the back supports. It would be susceptible to blowing over. When collapsed, everything is held together by hook-&-loop (velcro) fasteners which I consider much larger and stronger than necessary. At 85 inches long, stretching it out with so much velcro makes you feel like wallpapering with one arm. The provided MC4 to "multi-connector" I put aside in favor of a simpler MC4 to SAE adapter for my use. The weight is acceptable at less than 20 pounds but the backpacker pictured is laughable. The fabric certainly appears robust enough and the attached pocket is fine. I was VERY PLEASED by the output power (considering the sun incidence angle and atmospheric conditions of late November) by frequently achieving 200+ watts at 44 volts. I realize that outside temperatures in the mid 20° F will improve performance, I am still very much pleased. I now carry it all the time behind the seat of the truck whenever I go camping.

I get about 150W to 170W in bright Sunshine no clouds Southern California June sunshine with the panels aimed correctly. However for the current price of $180 seems like a good deal at just shy of 1$ per watt

This solar panel works really well!

My son has been on a nationwide camping trip, and he was tired of needing to buy ice for his cooler, so I got him a car refrigerator, a power bank with an additional external battery, and this solar panel. This was one of the least expensive panels, so I had my doubts about it, but figured it was worth a try anyway. I gave all this stuff to my son for Christmas, and we set it all up. The power bank kept the refrigerator going with no problems, after running overnight, it was down to 90%. We were going to hook up the solar panels, but it was cloudy, so we waited until the next day. The next day we did have some sun, so we hooked it up and found it was pretty easy to get 150 watts out of it, but it was still partly cloudy,,, then it got very cloudy... it turned out to be a whole stream of cloudy days, and the power bank got down to 54%, but then our luck changed, and we got a relatively sunny afternoon, and the power bank was able to get charged up to 82%, and this is while the refrigerator was always being powered. Then the next morning, Finally, we had a perfectly clear day, not a cloud anywhere, by then the power bank dropped to 73% overnight, we set up the panels a little after noon, because there are a lot of trees, and I was shocked to see this panel was producing 198Watts! Keep in mind this is in December, just a few days after the winter solstice, the WORST day of the year for solar panels, because the sun is at its lowest angle. I went back to check on it in 2 hours to re-align the panel, and I was again surprised that it reached 100% so fast!! So, he went an entire week with mostly cloudy days, and was able to still get a full charge on one good sunny day! Getting power readings of 198Watts in December is good enough for me! This panel is very easy to deploy, and it's easy to align. The wires it came with were too short and had the wrong connector, so I just bought a cable with the right connector on them, and even with the other cable, it was still more cost effective than other panels. The only issue we had it is that the kickstands like to re-Velcro themselves back in place, and that can be annoying, it would be better if they had a Velcro strap go across the kickstands so you could release them, but they couldn't re-attach themselves, but my son quickly learned how to deploy the kickstands as he set it up so they don't re-attach. I also got him a 20 foot 10 Ga solar extension cord, a tool to disconnect the solar connectors which can sometimes be difficult, and a solar alignment guide. Note that the 198watt reading I observed was before I even got the solar alignment guide. My son took this whole setup with him on his road trip, and since his car charges the powerbank while he's driving, he didn't need to charge it until he got to a place he was going to stay for a few days, then he set it up and he was easily able to get charged back up to 100% in just a few hours every morning, and maintain 100% all day, so his batteries for the power bank are only needed overnight. This solar panel folds up nice and small and has a zipper pocket on the side to keep the cables and alignment guide stored. I'm really happy with the price and performance of this solar panel, and I highly recommend it!

Economical, Sturdy, 200 plus Watts Actually Delivered!

I was skeptical because of the price, but because of the ease to return I took the chance. Initial impression was it was a bit heavy. That’s probably why it is so stable and feels well built. Folds well and very compactly so it’s easy to stow in my camper van. Lots of connection plugs is good, too. I was regularly getting 150 watts into my Jackery 2000v in early May, in not perfectly clear conditions. Today I had it laid flat on the ground, it was 1pm with perfectly clear sky at times and it hit 205 watts. A 220 watt panel delivering 205 watts is great. If it keeps doing that it’s excellent! The only non-positive is the stands. All the stands on this type of panel are a bit unwieldy and are not as adjustable as home made stands I’ve made out of PVC for conventional panels. The Velcro is very strong and I hope it doesn’t lead to tearing or separation from the fabric. That’s not a complaint, just a fact. Final verdict is wow, really good value per watt by a good margin over the other 5 or 6 panels I’ve used over the years.

Quality Solar Panel

I used this solar panel for the first time recently. I laid it out across the back of my truck on a sunny day and I used it to power my EcoFlow refrigerator. The refrigerator has a built-in lithium battery and when I plugged in the solar panel, the battery was at 18%. The panel ran the refrigerator and charged the battery to 100% in just a little over four hours. I used the panel every day for four days and never had to plug my refrigerator into a wall outlet to charge it. The panel is easy to pack and the cables are kept in pocket on the panel. The cables have connections to fit just about any piece of equipment you wish to plug it into. The panel is very easy to use.

Low quality, can't handle sun.

Quality is not good. After a month my panel started to bubble. My brother got a pair around the same time as I got mine they bubbled even worse the film on the panel is melting and is a fire hazard. Happened just outside the 30day return window. Do not buy these. Update: I originally bought three of these panels and already had to return one because the top layer started peeling and delaminating. I just checked the other two, and now they’re doing the exact same thing after only a few months of use. Delamination is a serious failure because once the protective layers start separating, moisture and air can get inside, leading to corrosion, electrical damage, hot spots (fire hazard), reduced output, and a drastically shorter lifespan. At this point, all three of the panels I bought have developed the same problem, so this clearly isn’t an isolated defect. For this kind of deterioration after only a few months is completely unacceptable.
