I am probably not the best person to know if this machine is easy for a beginner. My brain makes these machines very hard for me. It unspooled immediately and then I was lost lol. I was hoping it would all be straight forward with visual guidance but it was no help. I had always planned to get lessons. However the machine came quickly and stores easily ..... you know for when I book that lesson! :)) Happy with my purchase.

I haven't tried it yet. But i just opened the box and it looks like it was used. It already had threading in it, not sure if that's how it's supposed to come, but it was also dirty!
