I ordered the red hand planer. Looks nice. Came with all the different contour bits. I tested it on some walnut scrap I had laying around. Planer works fine. Not very sharp, that can be fixed. What cant be fixed is the red paint it left on the wood. The planer surface that makes contact with the wood is also painted red. It left all kinds of red marks on the wood. This tool is not usable in its current form. I am debating if it is worth the time to take the paint off or just return it. Not impressed. ... show more

I didn't read the reviews that mentioned it so my fault, I thought this tool was anodized. It isn't, it is painted and the paint rubs off on the wood. I will remove the paint from the sole of the plane using solvent and/or fine sandpaper. The cutters are not as sharp as I would like, but that is to be expected when buying any plane. ... show more

Who makes a plane and sends it out with dull blades? Ruined a test piece of wood on a project I'm completing. Will try and sharpen blades and retry planing again later.

This product is not to be used on any wood harder than Pine as it is unable to make a clean pass. However if you must use it in a harder wood, start with smaller cuts and then increase the depth of the blade until you get to your desired depth
