These are not exactly "shades". "Shades" implies it hangs from a fixture, and these don't. (I'm neurodivergent, so language details matter to me.) It is one big piece of material (which seems to be a thin plasticized fabric), black on one side, and silver (not shiny, though) on the other. It's big enough to cover around 4 medium-sized windows, I estimate. My two windows are 52" X 31", and I used just under half of the sheet provided. You know that old saying, measure twice, cut once? It's true, but it sure would help if there were some way to get the folds out of the sheet first. I did okay, because I have a really large cutting mat to spread it out on, and metal yardsticks to flatten it out with, but it was NOT an easy job because I didn't have a table available to work on. I had to lay everything out over the foot of my bed to get it done. To the older folks out there, or anyone with back issues - don't bother with this unless you have a decent-sized table or large counter to work on. Anyway, with that said, these DO block the light out completely, as long as you can manage to seal off the edges. It's Fall now where I am, so I can't say how good they are at keeping heat out. Maybe I'll return to this review and edit it next summer when I find out. The velcro dots stick VERY well, so make sure they are where you want them before you put the panel up. Frankly, the material is lightweight enough to only need half a dot every 4 or 5 inches at the top, so that's what I did - cut most of them in half. They're about 1 and 3/8 inches or 3cm in diameter, so they're definitely big enough. They will gum up your scissors, though, so be prepared for that if you decide to cut them. Have some Goo-Gone or other adhesive remover ready to clean them with if you want to use them again. Overall, I am satisfied with this purchase, and will likely buy this item again if I end up needing more. And I think it turned out better than actual curtains would have.

Took a little inginuty but, I got it figured out! First off, I swore I made the correct measurement's 3 freaking time's but, I goofed up, 3 time's, not the product fault, just funny... Second, the sticky tabs failed within a few hours. I used thumb tacks for a day before I decided to try a hot glue gun, BINGO! The window's are blacked out! I noticed pin holes from my tack(y) job and decide to use black duct tape, perfect camouflage! With that in mind, I decided to "patch" the other window together, because I measured wrong, 3 time's... I'm looking for performance, not perfect and these will block all light, just make sure you measure correctly... Also, I wrapped the fabric around the window frame...

I have two 10"x32" windows that I needed to cover. This product was great for that. There was more than enough material. Installation was easy except for the time to make accurate cuts (not a product defect). Sticking on the velcro on the sheets and window frame was easy. Once done, this is exactly what I was expecting. All in all, great value for money - and I have plenty left over if another use comes up.

I have a new baby so this will be quick haha works great! Needed to black out our bedroom window and didn’t want to spend a ton or do anything permanent. The Velcro dots are strong and the fabric easy to cut. (If I was more Precise with my cutting I could have eliminated all light but I was rushed.) Then I used the extra to black out another small window. Presto!

This is a great product, as long as you use your own command strips/stickers. The ones provided SUCK and immediately lose their stickiness once the shades get hot (due to the sun). The purpose of the curtains though hold up! It is absolutely pitch dark in our kids' room and they can't tell when the sun is "awake or sleeping." This has bought us a few more minutes of shut eye in the morning!

Works! I can't see anything. As a light sleeper, this really helps me sleep during the day for my 12 hour overnight shifts. Please note that i don't only use this for a good night's sleep! I also use a fan, sounded boarded the window to mute sounds (couldnt hear the gardeners), and take a 3mg melatonin. I believe this combination helps me sleep

I finally found something that truly blocks out any light coming in. It came with everything it said. If you need to lock out light this one is a keeper. Just measure and cut to your desired length. It was easy to put up and I'd suggest you pull tight making sure it's snug in the corners. I'd would give this a 5 stars but I found taking it down it also takes off the round sticker from the window and my concern is it holding up in the window when it gets cold.
