  • Waste of money
I saw the amount of 4 and 5 star reviews on this "Portable air conditioner" and thought it may be a good purchase to cool small spaces like the interior of a car. I was wrong. It must have been the company that sells this thing putting out those "reviews". This portable air conditioner and similar products like it, is nothing more than a waste of money. I included photographs with a tape measure to show the size of the unit. To use it, I wet down what would be the evaporator, which is basically a plastic frame with an absorbent paper like vents. I placed this in my freezer along with a base that holds water to get it freezing cold. After this froze, I put ice cold water in the base of the unit and put the evaporator frame in. This unit does not have a battery, so it has to be plugged into a power source. I put it my my car and plugged it into the USB cable port. I turned it on "high" which isn't very high as the internal fan is small and not very powerful. I left it in the vehicle for approximately fifteen minutes. When I came back out to the vehicle the only air being cycled through the unit was the hot, internal air of the vehicle. The unit did nothing to cool the interior of the vehicle. This does not work. If the air is cool around the unit, it will cycle that cool air. If the air is hot, it will cycle hot air. The interior of my car was now filled with hot, humid air, so it felt like I sat down in a sauna, it was worse than before I turned this thing on. I'm not going to tell you what to spend you're money on, but if you purchase this, or anything like this, don't expect it to cool a hot space down, just expect to purchase an overpriced computer fan in a box that is labeled as a portable air conditioner. ... show more

  • Amazing product
It was hard to tell from all the reviews which product was best so I'm delighted I took a chance on this one. LOVE that it's portable so we can take it camping (we did, worked great!) or just use it around the house, keeps me cool (esp. when soaking the filter in water then putting it in the freezer) and is absolutely essential when a hot flash comes on. I don't need color-changing lights or other unnecessary features. Just give me something that reliably works and effectively keeps me from overheating. Check, check, and check. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • It does it's job as long as your expectations are reasonable
Rare that I write a product review but here we go. Was pretty excited to purchase this product because I've been looking for a reasonably priced mini-cooler for a while. Instructions say to fill the ice box with water and freeze it before reloading it back on to the filter. As for the filter itself, its ideal to wet it and freeze it before hand. I tried this during my 3rd or 4th use. During my 1st and 2nd time using it, I simply used cold water and did *not* wet/freeze the filter just to compare the results. There is a noticeable difference weather or not you follow the directions indicated by the manual. I reccomend that you do. In my most recent use, I've skipped using the Ice Box entirely, and instead I just filled the reservoir with Ice Water. I still used a Frozen Filter. This time, I've set a thermometer IN FRONT OF THE UNIT to track the immediate outgoing air temperature (this is very importaint to note, as the actual cool air you would feel is going to be based on proximity, but I've chosen to place the thermometer as close as possible to remain consistent and to give you a rough idea how much this temperature would vary based on an your ambient air. My rooms current ambient temperature is 76 degrees Fahrenheit. After 5 minutes of usage, thermometer reads 71 degrees. After another 5 minutes, it got as low as 69 degrees. As I am typing this review, 20 minutes has elapsed at this point, and the thermometer is currently reading 68 (not pictured) The cooler functions using a single 12v fan about the size of a PC Intake/Exhaust Fan, and dare I say, just a little bit more powerful than an average PC fan. Taking that in to consideration, I don't actually consider this fan weak despite what other comments say. (Especially if you set it to its highest speed setting. I'm actually just a little impressed if anything) Cooler Unit is powered via a single USB-C port at the back. A little bit disappointed that this model does not come with a built in battery, however given that this product comes with a built in timer of 1/3/6/12 hours, I'm not surprised as the space left inside of the device doesn't really warrant much room for a built in battery, which in my opinion isn't nessecarily (would be NICE but not necessary) especially since there are so many options now a days to purchase a portable power bank of reasonable price. Over all, the product gets the job done and meets my expectations. I feel like a lot of other negative reviews are coming from customers who have had their expectations set just way too high (This isn't going to cool down the interior of a car that's been sitting in the sun. This device produces cool air based on ice and water, not refrigerant or coolant. The whole idea behind this device is affordability, and simplicity) Personally I feel like this device would benefit greatly from a larger, removable reservoir so that *more* ice water can be added. If the reservoir was lined with an insolating material (hollow plastic wall with foam lining wouldn't be too expensive, I would think) Selling a model that has the option of having a built in batter would be nice. Over all, 3/5 because expectations are met. Would be a 4/5 if the device had my aforementioned improvements. ... show more

  • Do not buy
The media could not be loaded. Too much work to get cold air. The water tank is not big, I have learned the hard way. There is a small cube at the bottom inside, you will have to full it and then put it in the freezer plus soak the filter and cool it too. Then put a little water in the tank. Does not worth it. ... show more

  • Don’t believe the hype
I ran this for two hours in a closed room and it only dropped one degree. I then froze the filter and the small water receptacle, as suggested and ran it for another two hours and it went 1/2 of a degree more. I put thermometers near the unit and across the room. I will say the temperature was consistent across the room with the fan on high. I ran it overnight (which is the reason I bought it). The light is fairly bright and cannot be turned off. But the temperature rose back up a degree by morning . So if you want a small fan, go for it. If you’re expecting air conditioning, don’t bother. ... show more

  • It does the job for the purpose.
I purchased this item because I wanted to see if it works and invest in a larger unit. I have this on my bedside table with a window fan toward the foot of my bed. It keep my face and upper body cool with adjustment( low, medium or high). This will not cool a large space. I have it on Medium throughout the night for 8 hours . You will need to add more water to tray. I used cold bottle water from freg, the colder, the better. What I don't like is the water tray. It needs to be deeper to hold more water. I find myself having to add water often. ... show more

  • Works perfect for night stand.
For the size it does the job! I keep it on my night stand on top of a tub so it’s level with my bed to blow on me at night.
