Folks, this is a very misleading title and description. Fact: a 16,000 Btu unit should theoretically cool 700-800 sq ft efficiently and most major brands don’t have a 16,000 Btu option because many homes could not support the power demands of such a unit but how could you know. I didn’t and I bought this item and I thought it worked and got a good deal for about 12 hours. Then I told my buddy GROK about this little unit who told me “With a floor AC unit claiming 16,000 BTU, it’s likely exaggerating its cooling power, especially if it’s a portable unit. The BTU rating for portable ACs often gets inflated using an older ASHRAE standard, which can be about 30-50% higher than the actual cooling capacity under the DOE’s newer, more realistic standard. For example, a unit listed as 16,000 BTU (ASHRAE) might only deliver 10,000-12,000 BTU in real-world cooling, barely enough to cool a small room, not the large 700 sq ft space it advertises. Check the product listing or manual for dual BTU ratings—misleading sellers often highlight only the higher ASHRAE number. Also, look for unrealistic square footage claims, like cooling 800 square feet with a single hose unit, which is a red flag since portable ACs are less efficient than window units and struggle in larger spaces. If your unit’s not cooling as promised or feels underpowered for the room size, that’s a strong sign of falsified claims” Please folks do yourself a favor. Read this review and go with what I’m recommending and you will save time, spend about the same amount of money and be happy with your purchase. After this oopsie I purchased 6 units between 12,000-14,000 BTU DOE standard. Just so I had a solid frame of reference. In my opinion you will be equally as happy with any of these models in either 12,000 or 14,000 btu 1. Koolsiln 14,000 Btu and the Whynter dual hose are both workhorse units, low tech but get the job. Koolsiln probably the best value in my opinion. If you want workhorse + tech the Dreo ACs165 is awesome. I get an updated temperature reading in my kids rooms and have full control from the dreo app. Very user friendly.

Works well, however quite loud. reading at 65 dsb on the regular cool, 71 dsb on high. Can't really sleep with it on, defeating the purpose. but for a single room this works well during the day. If your in a place with high humidity, make sure to have the hose in a 5 gallon bucket if not feeding outside. (Florida) it fills a gallon jug in 40-50min. The one I received had a few small plastic peices that were connectors broken, but still worked well for small spaces. Just can't sleep with it. Bought two for my living room, couldn't cool it down fully, still warm. living room roughly 800sq ft.

I bought this so-called 16,000 BTU unit for our living room (550 sq ft), but before installing it there, I tested it in my child’s bedroom (only 150 sq ft) to see how well it worked. I closed the door and let it run for 2.5 hours, expecting the room to be ice cold. The result? Absolutely no change in temperature. It was 78°F when I started and still 78°F when I came back. Useless. To make it worse, the product description says it has a heat mode — that’s a lie. No such feature exists on this unit. I’m sending mine back. Be on the lookout for it if you're browsing returned units. Total garbage. Don’t waste your money or time.

There is no way this unit is 16,000 btu. Its most likely about 8,000-10,000. It ran all night to bring my room from about 80 deg F to 68 deg F. The automatic mode isn't an auto mode like other A/C units, its very rudimentary and basically useless. When in cooling mode this thing stays on and never turns off the fan. It cools as needed but the fan remains on and its not quiet. I wish I would have known about how lousy the features are on this unit before buying. I expect auto mode to provide cooling until setpoint is reached and turn itself off completely until cooling is required. Our other unit which is rated at 14,000 btu is far better (but still loud) at cooling, and actually goes to sleep when cooling isn't needed.

Update: 1) with continuous drainage, it’s working fine and odor free. But seriously I’m in LA, it’s very dry here. One day use would generate 32 oz of water… that is a lot water. 2) display is acting funky. Those being said, it has small issues to overcome, But it does work, and does Cool down powerfully. I’d still recommend it. Pros: 1) strong air flow and cooling power. 2) light weight allowing it to be placed table top. 3) nice design. It fits in the room beautifully. 4) for a 16000 uti unit, $400 is a steal. The other similar models are $500. Cons: 1) it by no means is “Ultra quiet” 😂 it’s as loud as, if not louder than my 14000 uti Unit. 2) the window kit is lackluster. No screws just 4 little plastic pins to hold them together. Didn’t come with adhesive foam tapes for sealing the window. You truly need those to form a tight seal. Lucky for me that I have some foam tape at home.
