Is it quiet - yes. Is it a solid fan - yes. Does it cool the room - NO. I have put tap water in the reservoir. I have put refrigerated water in the reservoir. I have put ice in the refrigerated water. When I put my hand in front of the unit, it feels like a normal fan would feel, but no "air conditioning" is happening. I've let it run for a couple of days now, always adding cold water, but my room temperature is not dropping. So many responded favorably, but I just don't have those results. I NEED to have those results. Am I doing something wrong? I followed all directions in the pamphlet. It was too expensive not to work as advertised.

This was a disappointing purchase. I had bought a different, smaller evaporative air fan in the past that conducted air flow using a fan and ice/water mix that humidifies and chills the air - the same technology that this item uses. This item is about 18" tall, so it's considerably taller than the small box fan I've purchased in the past, and I expected that it would be of the same quality. Unfortunately, even at the highest speed setting, loaded with a mix of ice and water in the top, there is no coolness to the air blowing out at all. It is very much room temperature air that is blown out, so if you're in a hot room, you're going to get hot air. I've played with the touch interface buttons on the front and tried to figure out if different settings might help to activate some functions that I hadn't already known about, but the fan's operation is pretty simple - on or off, high speed or low speed, chilled or not. The unit itself is pretty compact, which makes it nice for a tighter area, but at most, this unit is a low powered oscillating fan and nothing more.

I was looking for something to cool my room so I didn't have to turn on my window air conditioner. The size is perfect for my room. It's about 10x12 and does get full afternoon sun. It does a fine job as long as it's 90° or lower outside. It never gets cold but it does stay comfortably cool. I do love the option of putting on the misters which is what actually cools it down, or just having the fans which has four speeds that do vary quite a bit between each level which is nice. Overall I am happy with the product but I don't think it quite lives up to its claims of actually cooling a whole room because I tried oscillating to cool the whole room and it never happened and that was only at 85° outside. But again I would buy another one to use in a close proximity.

Its not going to cool anroom down. It will however cool your body temperature down if you sit it front of it and the moisture gets onnyour skin or fan hits your sweaty body. The fan works great with good power and the oscillating feature is a plus. The 16" fan is great but it will not cool a hot room down let alone 200 sq feet.
