This is a nice bench which we hope will complement our driveway for a good long while. After all they do have a 20 YEAR guarantee! The instructions were reasonably easy to follow and assembly just required the supplied driver and a regular Phillips screwdriver (preferably electrical) for the under seat support. Once assembled it really is so close to a wood bench in looks that you would be hard pressed to see the difference from more than a few feet away. HELPFUL HINT: Don't confuse the screws there is a single center screw that goes in by the Polywood logo that is easily confused with the screws that go into the metal bar across the back, just enough of a difference in thread that it doesn't work. I would have given a 5 star rating, but the predrilled holes for the back were off by about 1/5th of an inch, so it took a bit of brute force to get them together. Also the staples which hold the slats in on the rear of the seat had come out at one end. I pushed them back in and now that it is together I'm sure they won't be able to pop out again. In something that costs this much, it would be nice if everything worked perfectly. In use I have to say it is very comfortable, it has enough shape to the seat and width to let someone get quite comfortable. ... show more

I love the idea of a wooden bench that does not need painting...ever! However, assembling the bench was a total disappointment! The instructions are not clear. I’ve learned, from previous experience, that an item should be assembled ‘loosely’ and once every piece is in place, the screws should be tightened. That did not work with this bench. Holes and screws did not align. In order to match up several pieces, I had to drill new holes. I am not at all happy with the way the bench is currently assembled. I wish I would have gone to a store and purchased an already assembled bench so I could see what I actually was receiving. With regrets..... ... show more

I liked the design and look and how it fits together. The advertisement says it has "stainless steel frame." That is only partially true. The back has a stainless tubular brace and the screws are Stainless steel. HOWEVER, under the seat their is a 1/8x2.5" ORDINARY STEEL bar to brace the front of the seat. I verified this with a magnet. The steel is well painted or powder coated gray color. The stainless seat back brace shows and is stainless. The under steel seat brace does not show and it is not stainless, even though advertised as stainless. That is the only reason for the 4 star rating. As far as the seat comfort goes, it is a personal item, but I was not comfortable in this seat-- my hip was tilted down at the back too much for me, due to the profile of the seat bottom. FYI Polywood has other bench models without the curved seat bottom that fit me much better. ... show more

I was ready for some curve ball with this bench since most products that need assembly, always seem to have something missing or unaligned. But honestly, everything with this bench was right on the money. First, I really like the gray color and the steel reinforcement in the seat and the back. It took my brother and I only 30 minutes to assemble. Everything fit perfectly, was aligned properly, and all hardware was included. (They even include a special tool for turning the screws.) Once assembled and installed it seems very solid. I definitely recommend this bench. ... show more

I wanted to place a bench outside at my apartment complex so I could sit and view my hummingbird garden! It is there for other residents to use as well. Several people have been using it and I have had lots of compliments. It is sturdy and pretty easy to assemble.

Arrived quickly with Amazon Prime, the box was in excellent condition. The bench is shipped partially assembled, and was fairly easily put together by 2 people with the provided allen wrench and a philips screwdriver in 45 minutes. The instructions mention using a power screwdriver if you have one -- not a great idea due to the ease of over tightening and stripping the screws or plastic materials. I have learned this the hard way after messing up previous projects assembling put together furniture and this product is no different. Good lighting and a work bench are a big help when assembling this bench. All the parts and pieces were included, and the bench quality was better than I expected and should last a very long time with no maintenance beyond wiping it clean. I have to mention that this bench was rare in that it included the correct number of screws and hardware pieces -- no leftovers (what did I miss on the install?) and no hardware store runs needed to replace missing items! The bench has decent weight to it and shouldn't move around in a heavy wind storm. Several other reviews have remarked on missing holes or misaligned holes. My example required some pushing and pulling and offered grudging resistance but did assemble properly with a little patience. The "missing" holes are for the two triangular supporting blocks in the front corners. These are meant to be self started and don't require pilot holes. They do require a lot of force to start the self tapping screws into the material and would be much easier to install with pilot holes but I can see why they were excluded due to the nature of the fit of these pieces being somewhat flexible. Overall, the product is a very good value in my opinion. The Trex brand 48" bench is also made by Polywood and costs over $110 more for virtually the same item with minor styling differences. Save your money and buy this one, you won't be sorry. ... show more

Loving this so far. The assembly was pretty easy. We set it up once and just leave it outside, which is exactly what we were looking for. No need to stain or move it under covering -- just sit and enjoy. The angle of the back is comfortable, not a straight 90degrees like some cheaper versions of this product. This might get a bit warm in the heat and sun of the summer, so I'm glad we didn't get a darker color. Very child-friendly. ... show more
