  • For the Price, This is a Good Smoker
This smoker works well and I had no issues using it. It is, however, made a little cheaper than some of my other smokers, but this is reflected by the price. For the price, it’s a good value. I expect this smoker to last several seasons. I like that it is stainless steel and has the protective cage. The cap hinge is a little flimsy, but it functions fine. I just need to be a little gentle with it when I’m reloading. The bellow works well and I had no issues with it. It comes with a separate metal bellow closure which I never use those, so I tossed it already. The burn time with this smoker is about the same as my other similar sized smokers. ... show more

  • Large fuels only
I wanted a second smoker so I could leave snuffed-out switchgrass pellets in one and bigger rolled-style pellets in the other for smaller tasks. It's a good thing my existing smoker works for the switchgrass pellets because the bottom grate holes on this one are big and would let them fall through. The grate arrives flat and legs must be bent downward, which makes even bigger gaps for fuel to fall through. Bending the legs out beyond the diameter of the fuel chamber so you have to squeeze them to fit it in the smoker will help with stability (otherwise, the whole grate easily flips upside down). My other smoker uses a much better design, with a separate perforated canister inside. Another shortcoming in this smoker's design compared to my other one is the heat shield doesn't extend below the burn chamber, so you'll have to be extra careful where you set it down. The hinge on the lid is also rather flimsy and tries to bind up on occasion. ... show more

  • Nice Sized Smoker for Long Term Use
I've been a beekeeper for more than 10 years, and as any beekeeper knows, a beehive smoker is an essential tool for keeping the bees calm on days when they just don't want to cooperate. This is a very sturdy, well made smoker that should last for years. It's a nice size too, so you should be able to tend to several hives in between refilling/relighting the smoker. The bellow is well constructed with a leather material that blows plenty of air into the combustion chamber to get things going and then maintain a nice cool smoke. Overall, this is a great primary smoker, or a good backup to have on hand for when your primary smoker disappears (like they tend to do!) or needs replacing. ... show more

  • Good value beehive smoker
The Pollibee beehive smoker is well made and great value. The heat shield is an important detail since it is easy to burn your hands accidentally on a smoker. It also protects from burning or melting nearby items while the smoker is hot. There is a grate with 3 legs at the bottom of the smoker. The grate should be removed and the legs bent down in position, before using the smoker the first time. All similar smokers ship with a flat grate and you manually bend the feet before use. The bellows are made of real leather. The smoker is light weight and works as designed. ... show more

  • BEE Careful
All-in-all this smoker is a replica of most the smokers you'll find on the market. It has a solid construction, and the build materials are of good quality. The bellows produces a good flow of air which should keep your embers well fed to maintain a good heat source. Overall, a good quality smoker that I expect will last a very long time. The one major strike I found with this smoker is that the heat guard wire that creates a barrier around the hot inner cannister is not wrapped across the bottom of the smoker. These smokers get very hot and setting this heater on a material susceptible to heat will likely melt the surface or leave a burn mark. For that reason, this smoker will be used as a last-resort smoker and only in the hands of an experience beekeeper. ... show more

  • as good as any beekeeping supply house brand I've ever owned
Same quality as from all the top beekeeping supply houses. I would be surprised if everyone didn't get them from the same factory to be honest. I've never seen much variation in these things. It's as good a quality smoker as I've ever owned. No sharp edges, everything seems to be well made.

  • Good price, meets expectations
Nice bee smoker for a great price. Everything you should expect in a normal smoker. It includes the piece in the bottom that keeps the fire up so it gets better air and burns better. Arrived in great condition and I definitely recommend it.
