For under $300 each, these speakers are a fraction of the price of the other speakers I've used in the past. I recently moved to a new house and space restrictions mandated I utilize a smaller, space friendly speaker for my audio setup. I was skeptical buying online without first auditioning the speaker and I had never before bought home audio equipment online. The pair arrived and well packaged within two days or my order. I unboxed them and positioned them in my audio space and was pleasantly surprised at the depth, sound stage, clarity, and the definition at the bottom end of the frequency range. These are not comparable to my more expensive speakers but these are still quite good. There is no fatigue and no harshness in the high end. These speakers are designed to be one of the primary channels in a good home theater system -- but I chose to use these in a two channel stereo configuration and the Monitor XT60s did quite well. I am pleased with these Home Theater speakers in my stereo setup. Many would label me as an audiophile snob when it comes to equipment - but I must admit the XT60s did not disappoint. I bought these for my turntable, but plan to expand to a 5.1 system in the near future. Some reviewers have said that these speakers aren't loud enough, that they are too "bright", and that they are short on bass I disagree with them. I have these hooked up to a Denon AVR-S66OH in a medium-sized room, and they are plenty loud enough for me. To me they sound pretty well-balanced, with clear and detailed mids and highs. The bass, after almost a month of break-in, is strong enough that I don't miss having a sub. The bass might be a tad boomy at times, but it could be the room. Very nice design. Small enough to be descret in any room. Even with there size these speakers put out a nice deep rich sound. On both the highs and the bass. Speakers fill entire level with great sound.

I went to a Best buy to look at these and listen to them and they didn't have anything you could actually listen to so I had to travel around to find one that did happen to demo and loved the sound but I decided to purchase from Amazon just because of the frustration of going to two stores that I couldn't even listen to them at glad I did these things were amazing they were shipped well and they sound awesome ... show more

They've only been in place about a week so they're still in the break-in period, but already they are worlds better then the 25 year old Bose Acoustimass speakers they replaced. I'm using them as front L/R speakers in a 5.1 Surround set-up.
