I do not have a screen over my large pool and do have many trees near the pool. So lots of debris winds up in the pool. Daily cleaning of the pool was necessary until I got this product. The first one I had still works but it’s getting old. I've had it for five years. I live in Florida and keep the pool open all year. The Turtle ran every day of each of those years without a problem. I decided to get a replacement. It is the best accessory I ever had for the pool. It will pick up whatever lies on the bottom and keeps the pool clean.     • NOT HAPPY WITH THIS TURBO TURTLE!
Number one problem: the tiny filter inside the float hose connected to the return clogs up very quickly which means it needs to constantly be cleaned out. Number two problem: The sweep hose catches against the float hose and the turtle stops, it should reverse itself and move away but it doesn't not even after 30 minutes or longer, it's stuck. Number three problem: The turtle goes backwards forever without ever reversing and moving forward in the opposite direction. At this point I am fed up with it. ... show more

This thing is amazingly good. I have recently installed a 15' X 30' "Oval" above ground pool in my somewhat sloped side yard, (major landscaping is 94% done), and we chose to use a salt water chlorine generator to avoid frequent maintenance issues, our land is heavily wooded and we have lots and lots of flying insects. What other reviewers have said about this thing are in large part true, particularly concerning the scarcity of real information contained within the owner's manual. Luckily, you don't need much more though. As long as you can manage the installation of the twist-lock fitting to the inside of your return jet, and as long as you have a powerful enough pump/ filter assembly, mine is 1.5 hp with 200lb sand filter, this little guy will get the job done. He easily cleans the entire bottom surface and mostly all of the sidewalls of our (to me) HUGE pool...In about two hours. My son-in-law lost a contact lens in the pool a few days ago, and my wife suggested that we let "Turbo" find it. Sure enough, within an hour, my nine yr old granddaughter had spotted a "bubble" in the catch-bag. Contact lens. Intact and useable. Granted, you should be a "gadget" kind of person to fully appreciate this thing but if you're not, why the heck do you have an above ground pool in the first place? My grandkids absolutely love this thing swimming around with them, and this, combined with the salt/ chlorine generator make this an amazingly easy pool to maintain. YMMV. ... show more

    • All in all very pleased with it for the price
I bought this in May and used it all summer long. All in all very pleased with it for the price. I typically only use my pool on the weekends. I would take the solar cover off in the morning and let the turtle go to work for the next 2-4 hours and it did an excellent job. I have trees nearby so there would be debris on the solar cover which would eventually end up in the pool. This did a good job of picking up the leaves and debris. I did not have to use my pool vacuum at all as long as I gave the turtle enough time to work. It's not perfect. It does get hung up on itself or the stairs from time to time. I would merely untangle it and set it back on course. So you do have to keep an eye on it occasionally and that is why I did not give it 5 stars. But still worth it. ... show more

    • Turbo Turtle User for Years
This is my 4th or 5th Turbo Turtle. Over the past 13 years the quality has gone downhill. The first one I owned worked very well for 5 years or so. The second one also worked well, though it didn't last as long as the first one. The one I purchased before this current purchase was a huge pain. It constantly tangled up in knots. I noticed the hoses and other parts seemed to be thinner and of less quality plastic. The hose was constantly sinking instead of floating. When I followed the instructions for trimming the hoses, the turtle they were too short and the trutle could not reach all of the pool. After several contacts with Polaris (and videos of just how quickly the turtle tangled), they sent me a replacement. It worked better, only tangling every other day or so. When I received the new turtle, I noticed the float hose had more floats on it than the last one. However, though the float hose did not dive below the water causing tangles, the turtle did tend to circle in one direction too much and the thing would get tangled every hour or so. I put the old turtle with the new hose (the reason I bought a new one was because the hose sprung a hole), it rarely tangles. It does a very good job picking up the trash on the bottom of the pool. Hopefully this turtle will function and give me a couple of years of service. I'm not sure if I would buy anotherone. Next time I might try a different product. Update 8/15/2021....The sweep assembly started falling apart about a month ago. I was finding bits of lead in the bottom of the pool and then the turtle started getting stuck again. Finally, about two weeks ago the whole assembly came apart. A bolt broke off. Now I have had to order a new assembly (They are $52). The quality of these turtles has certainly gone down over the years!! ... show more

Had this product before for 10 years loved it then and love my new one. I replaced the robot cleaner I had for year could not clean the pool on one charge what a waste of money. If you want to have a clean pool when you go out to get in your pool put the turtle in the pool at night on a timer and when you come out to swim it is clear. Robot charge for three hours and it might run 30min. but your pool won't be clean and you will have to charge again. Get one of these you will enjoy the freedom of having a clean pool when you want to get in. ... show more
