Oh what a twisted set of events, this book had some interesting turns I didn’t expect- but should have. Then had some I saw coming, but I’m not mad about because the way it played out was very entertaining! Amo Jones really does tell one heck of an intriguing story. Off to read the second book.

This was a new author for me, and the story completely pulled me in. I had been reading something else, but as soon as I finished that book, I immediately dove into "Playhouse" and read straight through to the end. It was a strange and intriguing Reverse Age Gap Romance, but I kept wondering—was it really a dark romance or not? Ivy and Asher are toxic, messy, and waving red flags in every direction. The mind games never stop, the power plays are relentless, and you’re constantly torn between who you trust and who you want to shove into traffic. You don’t to root for them… yet the angst creeps in, grabs you by the throat, and suddenly you’re yelling, “JUST GET IT ON ALREADY!” Asher had me cheering for him and silently begging him to make a move—right up until the Games began. Then… she-who-shall-not-be-named appeared, and I was enraged. Absolutely outraged. Meanwhile, Ivy handled it like a pro, showing just how strong she truly is. Did this book make me wildly uncomfortable? Oh, absolutely. Did it completely take over my emotions anyway? Of course it did. I loved the story line, I feel like there could’ve been some more details on certain things at the start to properly understand the characters. I feel like it’s halfway through the book before you see the character for who they are and it’s a bit confusing. The time lines shifts are also pretty rough. You could read one sentence and then the next they’re in a car gazing out the window then spandex to a whole other scene no warning or break. I love the story but I hope one day you can rewrite it. ... show more
