The Platypus QuickDraw Microfilter System is an easy-to-use, fast and ultralight fill-and-squeeze filtration system with the best user experience in its category. The simple and rugged design is a two-part system: the 1L QuickDraw Reservoir and the QuickDraw Microfilter. Made of Platy’s proprietary tri-layer film, the QuickDraw Reservoir is taste-free and durable while featuring a wide mouth and convenient handle for hassle-free filling at any water source. Using hollow fiber technology, the QuickDraw Microfilter is capable of filtering 3L of water per minute, while an ergonomic clean side spout makes it easy to deposit filtered water into any clean reservoir or directly into your mouth. Two easy and effective cleaning methods—shake-to- clean and tool-free backflushing—ensure fast flow rates stick around for the duration of a trip. With an attached flip-up clean side cap and a grippy-but- not-sticky filter housing, the QuickDraw eliminates frustrations like leaking water in the pack, lost small parts, and dirt-caked gear. I went on a five day hunt deep into the Colorado mountains and used the Platypus QuickDraw Micro filter system. The only water source up there were small streams and the system worked just as advertised! I got clean clear tasteless water. Probably the best I’ve ever had! I especially love the large mouth on the fill bag, it makes life so much easier! If you’re going out of civilization for any period at all, I highly recommend you get one!     • If I had gotten all the parts it would be 5 stars...
I ordered this as it came highly recommended. Works well in test, getting ready to go out on trail... HOWEVER... They didn't include the collection bag. When I reached out to the seller to correct the error, I got no response. Now I have to buy a separate collection bag or return and reorder.😬

I gave this a try on my AT thru hike after being extremely pleased with the Platypus Gravityworks 2.0 system. As you can see in the image, the threading broke on the filter, then shortly thereafter the bag broke along the seam on one side after only 2 weeks of (albeit heavy) use. Pros Very fast flow rate when clean. Proprietary threading does prevent gasket wear. Cons You need an adapter that is not included (but is with the Sawyer Micro) to properly backwash it in the field. It says in the instructions to just shake it sideways, but unless you're only filtering very clear pristine water this is not going to keep your flow rate high. The inner gasket for connecting to a Smart Water or similar is higher quality than a Sawyer, but the plastic threading is more fragile. In conclusion, it's just not better than a Sawyer Micro or standard Sawyer. I had high hopes because of other Platypus products but Sawyer remains the champ for reliability and ease of cleaning in the field. ... show more

This is amazing, picked it up as replacement gear on the AT to replace a disappointing MSR product. This is super simple, no tools needed like with Sawyer. Super fast and efficient. Did eat in a hip pocket so no need to drop the pack Super easy to clean in the field or at any city water source. There is no charcoal so if the water smells bad going in - it will taste bad coming out but that was not an issue I ever had to deal with. The most taste free bladder I've ever used as in honestly no taste! The only drawback is they do not sell just the dirty bag, and if you get a little too aggressive squeezing it or abraid it on gravel it will spring a leak. It is still usable you just have to watch that dirty water drip. It will also fit on standard bottles in a pinch. It is a100% winner... So why the missing Star, just because they don't sell replacement bags but do sell the filter as a stand alone. ... show more

Stranded in southwestern Louisiana, I filtered stagnant swamp water with this platypus for two days. Two grown men drank upwards of three gallons of this filtered water without consequence. Two thumbs up for this product.

    • Sturdy and quick
I bought this for a backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail. I had a siphon system and was looking for something that was easier to use. This fit that need. Just feel the bag with water, twist the filter on and start to squeeze. In ~35 secs, you will have a full liter of filtered water. Need 2 liters? Not a problem. Just feel the water bag and screw the lid on. When your bottle is empty, just squeeze to filter on the trail and keep on hiking or, better yet, just leave the filter on the bag and drink straight through the filter. Easy to maintain, just keep it flushed and stored as per the instructions. ... show more

    • Great price for a product better than the most common filter
The price on this product was so good, and the improvements over other filters significant enough, that I had to try this. The filter flow is faster than other small filters I have tried. Having threads that accept the bigger opening of the platypus bag but also the smaller threads of items like SMART water bottles, is brilliant. The Platypus bag is an improvement over the most common bags but I am still likely to use a CNOC in most situations. I have not tested the filtering effectiveness for removing particulates but expect it meets specifications. Overall, I'm impressed and glad that I got two. ... show more
