  • Really fun game, some issues that may or may not bother you
Platform For Display: PC Download Edition: Standard
Pretty good online shooter. None of the gameplay mechanics are as novel or original as something like Splatoon, but a fun game nonetheless. My main complaint is that the player base is small enough that you can really only get into games in one or two playlists, meaning that you can miss out on sizable chunks of the game if you don't ever play against bots. Its unfortunate that it doesn't have a server browser like most proper PC shooters. The game is always on, meaning that you have to be connected to the servers to play at all. This didn't bug me, but it is something to be mindful of. A few patches have solved the most egregious balance issues, but some people still have problems with hit detection. If you really liked the plant and zombie descriptions in Plants vs Zombies 1 and 2, you will be disappointed that the writers didn't make any attempt at being funny. This may seem like a review with a lot of negatives, but I have had a great time in the forty-ish hours that I've played so far. One more added note is that the game doesn't have splitscreen, and option which it's console brothers do have. If you are trying to choose between console and PC for this game, console may actually be the better choice in many cases. ... show more

  • Great
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
One of the best games my son and I have played. We have two copies and play on two separate pc's. Its still our favorite game to play together even after a couple years. Overall, it is a very unique 3rd person shooter that even an adult can appreciate the quality of. Really looking forward to a v3 if EA decides to produce one. My only issue with the game that is worth stating, is that it takes either 100's of hours of very smart gameplay (meaning farming coins efficiently) or $100's to unlock all the characters. Many are unique and would greatly improve gameplay as well as the more fun aspects of the game if only they were accessible. There are many characters and endless items, which is nice for continuity. However, I'd hope that in the future EA will allow for specific characters to be bought with the earned in game coins whenever you'd like, rather than having to endlessly chance it with sticker packs. I feel we have played way too much (which isn't really a bad thing), but still don't have many of the more sought after characters. This tells me EA has a very strong focus on the not-so-micro in cost transactions. ... show more

My son got a new PC for Christmas and he enjoys playing this game. He played it on the Xbox before so he is familiar with it.

  • good game...but the company that puts it out....meh
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
love this franchise. it is so fun and cute. this is a game me and my daughter like to play. the game itself is a 5 star imo. the reason i give it a 3 is because if you ever EVER have to deal with ea or origin then its a headache. their customer service and logic sucks. for gw1 i ended up having to purchase an extra copy because if i used my daughters real age, i could not link our accounts, thus i could not invite her to be my friend and invite her to play in matches. i called their support and told them that i needed to change the account to that of a 13 year olds and they demanded a copy of my daughter's birth certificate. also, there is voice chat in this game (and it is hugely annoying but it can be turned off) but no typing chat...not even simple emotes like GG or anything like that....it makes little sense to me since any account that indicates the player is under 13 is socially locked down anyway (even from family, and yes i am bitter about that)....so i see no reason why we can't have at least some F keys to say good game...or nya nya. if you think you want this game...and played gw1 then i would recommend getting it, as right now you can transfer levels and characters over from the first game. ... show more

  • A pleasant surprise
Platform For Display: PC Edition: Standard
This is a surprising good game. It is better than the original in every way. It has better graphics, beautiful colorful maps, more maps and more characters that it's predecessor. If you like the first one, you are going to love this one. The only complain that I have is that you need to put a lot of time to unlock the characters. The game comes out of the box with one character of each type. Like one Engineer, one Scientist, one Chomper, etc.,but you can unlock like 5-6 more Chompers. Each of those Chompers is unique. For example, one spit lava, another one regenerate health when you eat, another gets faster when you eat and so on. The same goes for all the other characters. To be clear, I love that you get to unlock a lot of characters. I just wish it was a little faster for you to unlock them. On average, I think that you need to spend around 1:15hrs to get enough game coins to buy one. Still, for me this is a very good game worth buying. ... show more

  • DO RESEARCH BEFORE BUYING THIS GAME!
Platform For Display: PC Download Edition: Standard
Do not buy the download for PC version. It is an EXTREMELY convoluted process that only ends in downloading the Origin client which constantly crashed my laptop. Thankfully I have experience in booting into Safe Mode on Windows 8 and 10 and was FINALLY able to remove it. This was all after chatting with 'tech support' from EA games and Origin for over 30 minutes trying to resolve the issue. Next step is getting a refund from Amazon and figuring out a new way to purchase \ download it so my son can play it. If you buy it and have any luck with the Origin client, please let me know. I could not even use my purchase code to redeem the download on the EA \ Origin website. UPDATE - after some further research I found this site -[...] It offered a different Origin client download that looked to be an older version which automatically updated. It took a few minutes, but it launched! Now deciding whether to buy the game again...My son already spent his video game money on something else... Also, the Amazon customer service rep I chatted with on this issue was EXTREMELY nice and helpful. Final word, ensure you read the entire purchase on the game and can successfully download and launch the Origin client. ... show more
