  • Best Landline quality headset for Mobile & PC!
I'm on the phone pretty much everyday, working out of the home office or traveling which means a headset for calls is as mandatory as having a device for email. It would be a frustrating exercise to calculate how much money I've wasted on headsets over the years, both wired & wireless. The wired sets seem to have better sound quality (listening & speaking) but the cords always get jacked & the continuous untangling results in a short life. The Bluetooth sets die just as quick & I'd always replace them with a different model, hoping to find one that worked better but without much luck. To have a decent call w/ a Bluetooth, it seems you need to be in a soundproof room & sit perfectly still. Even if that was practical, what you hear & how you are heard is a roll of the dice & no mater which brand you pick or how much you spend, the calls are never as clear as a landline. FINALLY, I scored the Voyager Focus, hands down the best headset purchase I've made in years. Why? The sound is landline quality, I can hear everything clearly & those I'm speaking with hear me equally as well. It's loud when you need it to be & since the audio is in stereo, I have the volume turned lower than ever before. This is complimented by the noise cancellation which is really terrific, so much that I can be on a call with yelling kids in the background or a train can be passing by, & the background noise does not come across on the call. I tested this on a call in the city, walking downtown during rush hour & the call was as crystal clear as my office. The Focus also has terrific range, more than 5x that of any other Bluetooth meaning I can walk & talk around the office or home without needing to have my phone < 5 feet away. In addition to my mobile phone, it also connects to my PC, laptop, & iPad (easily connecting/switching between 2 devices at the same time). When if I'm listening to music & a call comes in, if I tap the headset to pick up, the music turns off & then turns back on when I hang up (a nice optional setting). Speaking of, the sound fidelity for music on this set is impressive on all ends. Since it has a great noise cancellation switch, I no longer bring the Bose headphones for the plane, using the Focus instead. Although it doesn't block out the background noise as much as the Bose does, it's close enough. It's a no-brainer since I can quickly switch over from music to pick up a call on my phone or make a Skype call on my iPad while sitting on the tarmac. I'm a hater when it comes to sitting next to someone blabbing away on their mobile. That said, when that call comes in & you need to take it, the Focus is the way to go. The audio is so clean, I can speak in a quiet voice (to be respectful to my neighbors) & those I'm speaking with on the call can't even tell. The Focus will also maintain a charge all day long (unlike my Note 5) & I've yet to have it choke for need of a charge. Admittedly, I still use my earbud headpiece (Plantronics Legend) when I'm out & about incognito. Although the Focus is lightweight & folds flat in a nice zippered bag for traveling, the over-the-head "call center look" is not so practical in between appointments. That said, for any important call where vocal & listening clarity is essential, I'll pull out the Focus & switch over. I write very few reviews but this headset is so impressive I can't recommend it more highly. ... show more

  • A dream come true A dream come true
These are very comfortable. I have a very large head and wear glasses and these have a suspension band that makes them very comfortable in almost all situations. I didn't realize that they notch and lock down at first, but once I figured that out, they were a perfect fit. Mic quality is excellent. I've used these with Vidyo, WebEx, Skype, and GlobalMeet so far. In each instance voices in the headphones sound great and my voice sounds fantastic to others. The mute function is very well done and is right on the microphone with a solid quick pronounced button. These headphones detect when you're trying to talk while you're muted and they alert you that no one can hear you speaking. You can change the setting to be audible, display a notification, both, or none. Overall Audio quality is also great. Definitely Plantronics voice audio quality here. I can listen to music in full fidelity. When you communicate with the mic, the headphone switches profiles, even with the adapter and there is a drop in music quality. The drop is notifiable, but it's still usable for gaming. The bass is rich, the mids are pronounced and well defined, and the highs are great. The headphones are doing some fancy realtime DSP when listening to music and the quality is very well pronounced for professionally office headphones. Range is also decent. These go much further than my BackBeat Pro's and I can use them all over my 950 sq ft work space with no problems. If I do get too far, the quality drops for the first few words, then switches to a higher band and picks right back up. This is a little annoying, but it handles it well. As long as you are within 50ft, you shouldn't run into any issues. Noise cancelling is very light. It's not overbearing, but it's a very subtle effect that is hard to notice. I get motion sickness from Bose noise cancelling, but these don't bother me at all. The build quality feels good. They don't feel cheap like other headsets can feel. The dock is solid and well built. The headphones slip easily right in. I've used these enough now that I can comment on the battery life. For heavy voice and music I get 12-14 hours before they die. You get an audible alert an hour before they day, and the software estimate for battery life is very accurate. Once you get these, make sure you update the firmware. The firmware on the USB accessory and the headset both increase range and improve performance and audio quality. There is a slight quality drop when using pure bluetooth vs the dongle. It won't be noticeable to most people however. Let me know if you have questions about the headphones or software! ... show more

  • Excellent - Best in Class - Probably
This headset is very good at what it does. I work in a call center 5 days a week and have used it daily for 6 months. For being wireless the audio is crystal clear. Not like extremely high fidelity $500 clear or anything, but very very good. 9/10 on a conservative scale. The connectivity is extremely good, I've never had a single cut out after 6 months of daily use. I haven't tested the max range, but I've easily walked 20-30 feet from my computer without any cutting out or lack of clarity. Input audio is very loud and clear. Once again not super high fidelity like $200 musical headphones, but it's 8/10 for clarity and loudness is good/a non issue, even with coworkers around me. The noise cancellation is great, not bose quality, but 7/10 it makes it much easier to hear the person on the other line when the 5-7 coworkers around me are also talking loudly. The battery life is my favorite part about this headset, it lasts for a long time. I do get the 12-14 hours out of this. It appears to take about 10-15 minutes to charge up 2-3 hours of battery usage. I use this 8 hours a day and plug it in for 45 minutes during my lunch every day, and that is the only time I charge it. I turn the headset on and off frequently throughout the day, it connects to the computer within 1-2 seconds 90% of the time. 10% of the time it takes 5-7 seconds to connect to the computer. I've literally never had any other issues with this headset, and for the quality it is a great value with its current price. Oh this actually sounds very good with music too, unlike other "professional" headsets which only focus on "spoken word" audio, for conversations. Once again, I enjoy listening to music on this. ... show more

  • Great for multi-device use
I am on the go a lot between home office and on-site. I often take screen-sharing meetings or video conferences on my work laptop, and take another call-only meeting in the car through my phone on bluetooth. And, I want my voice to be clear on the other end to facilitate good communication. So far, this thing has it all, it seems pretty deluxe. Every feature seems to work well. For the most part, I can pair it to both my phone and work PC simultaneously (BT to phone, and USB dongle on PC) and pretty seamlessly swap various types of audio sources between both (media, calls, various video conferencing apps) and the headset takes care of it automatically. Really nice feature for those with multiple devices. I can be listening to music from youtube on my computer and a call comes in on my cellphone and the headset switches and handily pauses my media on PC while I take the call on the cellphone. Then when I hang up the call, it switches back to the media on the PC. Then I can hit "play" on the podcast app on my phone and it will swap to playing my phone's media, suddenly get a call on my PC office meeting software, and it will switch to that. Occasionally in specific circumstances, I will need to turn off/on bluetooth on one of my devices to force it to pick up on the other device, but mostly it works very seamlessly. Pretty amazing feature if you think about it. Mute button on the boom is extremely handy and convenient for rapidly switching mute on/off during a call, which I frequently need to do. Have asked co-workers about my voice quality on their end and no complaints so far. Recorded myself with it in my car on the highway and also in my home office and the recording sounds quite clear, at least favorable, compared to some of the teleconferencing hardware we have at work... although the background noise cancellation still picks up loud keystrokes or tapping on the desk. The ease of use for the mute function makes up for this, don't type when you are talking anyway, you're not really that good at multitasking ;) Sound quality is great. I am not an audiophile per se but have owned some nice headphones in the past, these are more than adequate for me to wear for extended periods of time and the sound quality is honestly great, whether for conferencing or just listening to music or other media. At first glance these are fairly expensive, but pretty excellent quality and fully featured. The build quality and finish seems good as well. For what you're getting I'd say these are actually cheap. ... show more

  • Finally--a wireless headset for conference calls & hifi audio
I am picky about headsets and headphones. I am on conference calls almost the entire day. When not, I'd like to enjoy a bit of music. Well, I enjoy a lot of music, but it is hard to cram into available time. I have been waiting for a great wireless headset for 5 years, to mix conference calls with hifi music listening that can switch between a physical phone and a PC. I have great headphones (Sennheiser HD 650), but headsets have always been single purpose for conference calls. FINALLY, something is here to balance both. I was skeptical at first... My requirements were: * Mute button with external visual indication when engaged * High quality for music listening * Ability to pair to multiple devices (phone + PC) * Comfortable for all day * Boom with good microphone sound quality. This checks all the boxes, which wasn't clear reading other reviews. This is an on-the-ear headset with a great mic that has a mute button! I was concerned about visual indication of the mute button engagement. The general approach is indication via the Plantronics Hub app when using it with a a PC softphone, which doesn't work for my use case (I have a Cisco DX80 video phone and don't prefer a softphone). A nice trick is that the BT600 USB that this comes with lights a different color when on mute. Even better, if I plug that USB dongle into my Cisco DX80 and pair the headset with the BT600 instead of the DX80, the DX80 recognizes it as a USB phone and when I go on mute, I get visual indication from the DX80 that I am on mute. That is HUGE for me. Another cool feature, in addition, is it yells at me if I talk on mute. Sometimes that may be intentional, but don't worry, you can turn that off with the Plantronics Hub app. These headphones support the aptX codec for hi-fi wireless audio quality. So I can jam to Steely Dan's Aja when not on a conference call and it sounds great. These headphones resemble the Backbeat Sense I had before, but those didn't hold up as an adequate solution for a headset due to the mic placement not being ideal for conference use. These headphones can't touch the fidelity of my HD60 cans, but the comfort level is 90% of that, and the audio quality is the best I've had from a multi-tasking headset. The headset is very comfortable. Supple leather, and no strong pressure on the ears or headband. I'm a huge fan. It took some patient waiting for something like this to arrive. Been a fan of plantronics headsets and headphones for a while. ... show more

  • Great tool for the office & seemless integration with Cisco IP Communicator!
I particularly like this headset and I have had quite s few. I work remotely out of my home office for work, so this is really helpful when my 11-year olds are home from school for a holiday or the summer. The sound cancellation is great. I’m not going to tell you it is the same as Sony’s or Bose’s but it sure is good. The thing that stands apart is it’s seemless integration with my Cisco softphone (IP Communicator). No extra software was needed and i cannot install anything because of my eork laptop security. This is great. Now, I can pair it with my iPhone X and change the settings via the app, so I do not feel like I’m missing anything. The mic and sound of my voice during conference calls and presentations is superb. This is why it is a better tool for me for calls than the Bose and Sony products. If they only had a good dedicated mic, they could compete in this market, but this is why I believe a Plantronics stands apart and dominate. Their products like this one work well with my Cisco softphone, integrates with my iphone for mobile calls and when traveling, and has insane battery life for all day work. I can hear clearly and speak without problems or worry that the people on the phone cannot hear me. It appears to use the same mic I have on my portable Voyager Pro mic that I have as a backup or when I need a free ear to listen with. The traveling case is foam padded and protects it pretty well. It is not a hard case, but I think it still works well. Hard cases have made me assume more that I had more protection than it reasonably can. The stand that I use when in my office is a nice cradle/stand with easy to ready lights and docks really easily. This makes it easy to take off and charge in a dedicated place. The features that this has are really surprising, too. They are not only practical but seemed to have been thought out in a way that I did not expect. The auto answer when I put the headset on is great. The mic remind voice that I can set for various intervals, when I talk and it’s on, and/or any combination of the 2 is super helpful. Yes, I do wish I could control the volume of the mute on voice, but it works well. If I hate it at some point, I can turn it off and look at my Cisco softphone to see if mute is off. It does allow for longer range talk when further away from my computer. That can sacrifice battery life from over 14 hours to almost 9 hours per day. There are days when meetings, projects, and working with people will keep me online all day, so it’s nice to have 9+ hours. I’d recommend this and think you should seriously consider it for the features, comfort, great sound (earphones and mic), long battery life, and integration with Cisco. I have a big head and it works great. ... show more

  • Okay headset (with a lot of flaws)
I picked this headset because it works with Teams. It has quite a lot of customizable features, however the software does not allow you to adjust many of the features, and the features themselves are fiddly and glitchy. When you answer a Teams call or join a meeting, the software throttles the volume down to zero and you have to manually raise the volume back up. There is no setting where you can tell it what volume you WANT when answering calls. Also, when you join a Teams meeting, half the time it MUTES the meeting. I don't mean it mutes your mic, which would make sense. No, it mutes the whole meeting and you can't hear anything. There will be a brief popup as soon as you join telling you that it's muted, and if you don't hit that unmute button immediately, there is NO WAY to get the audio to come back without leaving then rejoining the meeting. I don't personally like the mic arm, which you can raise and lower. It is too much to remember on top of all the other hoops you have to jump through just to answer a call. If it's raised and out of the way, you are muted, so you HAVE to remember to lower the arm every time. Or just leave it down all the time, which is what I usually do, but it can get moved if you take your headset on and off. The headset has a sensor that can tell if you're wearing it or not, and you have the option of allowing the headset to mute itself or pause your videos if you take it off. Unfortunately, this sensor is VERY sensitive, so you end up causing your videos to pause every few seconds unless you turn that feature completely off. Even with this feature turned off, the audio acts insane when you take your headset off during a video. If you pause your video and remove your headset (like if you wanted to get up to go to the bathroom), when you come back and put the headset back on, it takes SEVERAL seconds to re-pair or something, because when you resume your video it plays for about five seconds without any sound, then it PAUSES the video completely and you have to manually restart the video a second time for the sound to come back on. All videos lose the first 1-2 seconds of audio no matter what. It doesn't matter if you've been wearing your headset all day, or just put it on. Every video you watch will start out with zero sound for several beats. If you turn your headset off and/or place it on the charger, the software does not intelligently then switch your audio back to your computer speakers. So every time you take your headset off, turn it off, or charge it, you have to manually go into audio settings and switch your audio source from headset back to speakers. There are quite a few other annoying aspects of the headset's software that make it frustrating to use. However, the sound is quite good, and it connects easily via bluetooth or USB wireless. I was able to connect it to both my computer and my phone, which allows me to take Teams calls while out of the office. Overall, it's an okay headset but the features and options often inhibit the functionality rather than enhance it. I have come back to edit this review to add more things I dislike about this headset. Overall, I would not buy this again, and I honestly can't wait until this thing breaks so I can justify spending another $200 on a different brand. ... show more

  • A Top-notch product; no-flack warranty
Much of my professional life nowadays is conducted online. It is important to me to use equipment that makes my life easier. Zoom is my “best friend” and hearing and seeing properly are tops on my priorities. Even though I have a first class workhorse for a PC, I already replaced the built-in webcam with a well reviewed product. Its only weakness was the microphone. Not bad, but no good when talking to a bunch a people from different backgrounds and clarity of speech is important. Had wired USB headphones that were excellent, but restricted my freedom of movement and frequently I ended up knocking things off the desk, or hitting the mute button, by mistake. I figured that by now Bluetooth technology has advanced beyond my early experiences with ear ‘cockroaches,” so I did a bit of research on decided on a Plantronics product. BTW, Plantronics acquired Polycom and rebranded itself as “Poly.” They are now cutting a wide swath in the UC&C (Unified Communications and Collaboration) market with a dizzying mix of platforms, software versions, and applications. The headphones arrived and I couldn’t find the silly USB receiver. It’s a tiny dongle that goes into your computer’s USB port. It comes already paired with your USB headphones. Complained to Amazon. They replaced it immediately and picked up the previous one next day when the delivery dude came. This time I was careful with unpacking. There was the dongle, a teeny-tiny little ole thang, in a hole in the fold of the cardboard insert. I almost threw it out. Again! Plug’n’Play, no fuss no muss. Controls are intuitive; got used to them in 5 minutes. I paired them with my Samsung Note10+ phone, too. Excellent sound. People at the other end say my speech is clear as a bell without any clipping or echo. The headset is light, noise cancelling works well and you can adjust it to your environment. It comes with a charger-stand and there is where I keep them. I can snatch them off the stand in a second, connection is instant, and they fit right back on without any fumbling. And I got my freedom of movement back. My office is about 25-ft long and I haven’t lost connection from one end to the other. I am well pleased with the headphones and Amazon’s outstanding service. ... show more
