Work well, can be snipped in half with scissors. Generally these not really made of lead anymore but is still a pretty soft metal alloy. No signs of rust or anything in the aquarium after being in there for 6 months.

It's plyable and does what it should. The only thing to know is that it the surface of the metal will react with something in the water to form a different surface on the metal over time.

We started a new aquarium and recently added some live plants. A couple of the plants kept coming loose, so I decided to try these anchors and I am so pleased with them. They’re very pliable pieces of metal. I didn’t believe just 1 piece would weigh my plant down, but I’ve included a photo showing one of my plants with the weight on it. I ended up burying it, but the weight did help it drop to the bottom of the tank. What worked best for me was to fold and pinch the piece over the stem of the plant, rather than try to roll it around, if that makes sense. I folded about 1/3 of the strip to make a V-shape, set the stem in the V, folded the strip as flat as I could without damaging the plant, then I folded the other third over the top. For larger plants, additional strips may be needed to weigh it down. I’m so happy that the solution to my floating plant problem was so simple and affordable. ... show more

These anchors work well. All these plants in my Fluval 15 gallon FLEX tank are real, and they are all anchored down. Before the anchors, I used to bury them in the substrate and they were constantly coming up and floating around.Now I just sit in my recliner and look at the tank for hours and relax.

    • Don't buy if you have anxiety
Ok, I used the lead weight in my aquarium and used my barehands. I've read on that the lead weights are not really pure lead. Well these are. I washed my hands like the package said to and then I touched my nose. Now I'm looking up how toxic lead is and how to get it off your hands and all I see is that it's extremely dangerous to handle, ingest, or inhale lead. So naturally, I begin scrubbing my hands again, and my face vigorously and I'm worried about breathing. Product works as advertised, but not for the mentally challenged. 😂 I wish I bought non-lead weights. ... show more

Being relatively new to the hobby, I've been just super-gluing plants to small rocks/driftwood while trying to shield them with decorations because my goldfish have no chill. These have proven effective for the most part and enable planting wherever I please. Cheap, must-have workaround. Wish I tried these from the start...losing plants gets frustrating, not to mention pricey over time. ... show more
