Description

Mistakes were made, okay? The moment I laid eyes on Kyle Kingston I knew he was a mistake. A satisfying, toe-curling, hair-pulling, best-night-of-my-life mistake, but a mistake all the same. I didn’t yet know his name, or who he was, but I knew he was a bad idea. I take comfort in that, because it means my instincts are still good. Too late, but it’s something.Because, FYI, I’m pregnant......and did I mention my baby daddy is both heir to a retail empire and impossible to get ahold of? I do what any girl would. I break into his grandfather’s retirement gala by telling the prissy gatekeeper Kyle’s my fiancé. It was a halfway decent plan at the time, trust me. But it blows up in my face, disastrously so. You see, Kyle Kingston is all about representing the family values his family’s retail empire was founded on. At least in public. In private - well I’ll tell you about that later. He proposes - a marriage of convenience. Convenient for everyone but me, because while I’m falling in love with my convenient husband, he’s keeping a billion-dollar secret. From me. Read more

  • Hilarious Rom-Com with Fantastic Characters
Format: Kindle
What happens if your not-so-carefully planned out life takes a left turn? Everyone should have a Plan B, right? Jana Aston’s latest romantic comedy, Plan B, is a hilarious second installment in her Best Laid Plans series. Daisy is first introduced in the absolutely adorable “Sure Thing”, where she has forced her identical twin sister, Violet, to cover for her at work for a week. In Plan B, readers discover the reason behind Daisy’s needed twin switcheroo. I adored Daisy. Ms. Aston has a knack for creating relatable, quirky heroines who have the perfect balance of self-esteem and self-doubt. No whiny self-loathing, just pure-gold, crazy inner-dialogue. The author creates women who are naturally appealing and reflect the thoughts, desires, doubts that most of us harbor. I don’t know how much of the author is in her heroines, but I feel like she has captured some part of me in each of them. “Kyle overfeeds me too. I wonder if I’m also a rescue project.” When Daisy hunts down her one-night-stand-turned-baby-daddy, the laughs begin. Since the woman is not much for planning, she easily gets in over her head rather easily! Kyle Kingston—the baby daddy--is yet another example of the author’s fantastic leading men. Again, Aston gives her readers exactly what they desire most, a successful in his field, slightly more experienced, gorgeous hunk. Kyle must have some flaws, right? I only saw a guy who made a couple small mistakes as a result of protecting the family legacy/image. The guy is near perfect and totally lovable. The secondary characters are equally endearing. Kyle’s sister, Kerrigan, is delightful. Her bubbly energy is charming. I would have loved a little more of the Kingston grandparents. Ms. Aston’s natural comedic timing is evident throughout the book. The elevator scenes with Kyle’s neighbor are laugh-out-loud funny. Whether a comedic scene or a sexy scene, the author’s writing flows. The plot is realistic and focused. The characters and dialogue always felt organic, no matter how zany the situation. The vibe between Daisy and Kyle is absolutely electric! The straightforward storyline and engaging characters make Plan B by Jana Aston a funny, quick read. The mild conflict and easy resolution make for a perfect reading escape. A super fun read that I highly recommend. ... show more

  • 4 Stars - fun, quick and hilarious
Format: Kindle
You can always count on Ms. Aston to deliver a smoking hot, laugh-your-butt-off, happily-ever-after-with-lots-of-kids (just how I like them) romance. Plan B was a prime example. Daisy, Violet’s “fun” twin, first appeared in Sure Thing, and I got the feeling she was up to some crazy shenanigans… and now we finally know what that was. Daisy gets knocked up during a one-night stand in the middle of her men cleanse. She is able to track him down, only to realize he is a billionaire CEO and there’s no way for her to reach him with the news. Desperate to get that announcement out of the way so she can start planning for her new and unexpected future, she decides the only way to do it is to crash his grandfather’s retirement party. Only, that turns out way more difficult than she expected it to be and ends up telling everyone she is his fiancé. Let’s just say that when Kyle finds himself in front of a fiancé he never knew he had he loses it. Luckily for Daisy, he takes the news of his impending fatherhood better than she expected. Unfortunately, now everyone in his family and the company think he is engaged. Kyle and Daisy’s chemistry is really out of this world, and they make very good use of it. Kyle was a serious yet playful, sexy and hot nice guy. I really loved how he was towards Daisy as well as his sister and grandma… and Tubbs. Daisy was a ray of sarcastic sunshine and she had me laughing with her thought process. In the cusp of pregnancy hormones, she could give me whiplash with her mood swings but that was actually half the fun of it. She was sweet and funny, caring and surprisingly levelheaded… I was really expecting a wild child but what I got was a lovely girl who knew how to have fun and didn’t sweat the small stuff. I absolutely adored her. While their relationship was mostly smooth sailing, I found myself wishing things were a bit less easy to resolve. I really wanted more drama! Although I really got a kick out of Kyle’s last revelation. Plan B is a fun, quick and easy read that I thoroughly enjoyed. It had everything I needed, including a kickbutt epilogue. We even get some cameos from Dr. Luke McHotness which totally made my day. ... show more

  • JAston is Rom-Com genius!
Format: Kindle
I had to wait awhile on Plan B and I can tell you this: it was every bit worth the wait! JAston writes rom-com expertly. She kept me giggle-snorting while flipping through the pages as quickly as I could! We got a little taste of Daisy in all her crazy-fun glory in Sure Thing , the first book in the Best Laid Plans series. She was wild enough to be pulling a twin switcheroo at her job! I already loved her "live life to its fullest" approach to live so I was eager to get her story. And while Daisy may jump in with both feet before considering the consequences, she's also smart, loyal, compassionate and responsible...most of the time. ;) The one time she isn't...the one time she lets the guy handle the condom...well, she's paying for that. ;) Kyle - Daisy's baby-daddy - is one hard-to-find man. Well, Daisy found him but can't actually contact him. No numbers, no social media accounts. It's like he's some very important yet very private guy. So Daisy takes matters into her own hands and concocts a brilliant plan to "bump into" him. It all goes according to plan...NOT! But Kyle doesn't seem too bothered. I really liked Kyle. He was the yin to Daisy' yang. Where Daisy was chaos, he was even-keel. Watching their romance really blossom was sweet and gut-busting hilarious. I enjoyed the dynamics between Kyle and his family and how easily he inserted Daisy into the mix. And I adored getting the "other side" of Violet's story as seen through Daisy's POV. It was all fun and sweet and humorous. Ooh! Also, the whole story is told in dual POV so you get to know Kyle pretty well too! JAston is Rom-Com genius! She's never disappointed me so I'll keep auto-buying her no matter how long I have to wait. ... show more
