  • Ok for the price
Color: Pla+ White Material Type: Polylactic Acid
So, I bought a roll of the PLA+ (white) because it was 17 bucks and boasted a diameter tolerance of +/-0.02mm, which puts it up there with the midrange name brand stuff. Why not, right? So far, not too bad...but nothing like I expected it to be. Firstly, the advertised extrusion temp is WAAAY off. It lists 210-235C, so I started it off at 215 because that's what my other PLA+ spools like on my machine. I got blobs, oozing, stringing from hell, etc. So, I dialed it back to 200. Still stringing, but much better. I'm printing right now at 195, and it looks GREAT so far. Makes me wonder what's different about my spool that made the temperature fall way outside the listed range. Second, the advertised bed temp is nuts. 70C for PLA+? Well, that's what the box said, so I tried it. I get great adhesion on my glass bed, but these prints absolutely would not pop off after cooling without a frustrating amount of coercion. I'm going to try dialing that back a bit and see what happens. Lastly, and what you probably REALLY want to know about, is the print quality and durability. Honestly, it's not that bad. I'd compare it to my eSun PLA+. Lots of added hardness, but unfortunately it's very brittle in spots where it counts (such as arms and legs on miniatures). I prefer a PLA+ with a little more elasticity, but I think this stuff will function well for less delicate pieces. Overall, it was an OK experiment. The price was great, and though this stuff will never become my go-to, I feel like I'll use the roll - it doesn't deserve to go into the garbage bin or anything. ... show more

  • Hatchbox vs Overture vs Jayo
I bought some Hatchbox ABS filament as I wanted to smooth my end print with acetone vapor bath. I were getting poor results so I bought two other brands to compare; Overture and Jayo. All of the boats were printed using the exact same file, with 230C at extruder and 110C for bed, 0.2mm layer. Then I put three of the boats in the same container with acetone-soaked paper towel and left them sit there for 2h. Hatchbox, like in my previous trials, partially melted but you still can clearly see artefacts printer left. For Jayo and Overture 2h was way too much, but surface is very nice, smooth, shiny. Jayo and Overture looks like images that I found online and that’s about what I expected. I left Hatchbox overnight to see what will happen to it. Boat pretty much disintegrated, and plastic is very easy to rip apart with fingers. It has consistency of partially melted cheese yet surface still looks almost like before the acetone bath. No idea about strength of the prints, but if you plan to deal with acetone smoothing seems like Hatchbox is not the right choice. ... show more

  • Great abs filament if you can master first layer adhesion!
This is actually great ABS. I don't have much experience with many brands of ABS but I'm glad this was of great quality right off the bat. I have not had any cracking with finished products. The only I am running into is first layer adhesion but that seems to be very common with ABS. I am using the sunlu s8 3d printer and that only goes up to 260 nozzel /90 for bed. I am only using ABS for small parts and after setting everything to max and using suave extreme hold hairspray I was able to get great first layer adhesion. If anyone else has any tips on abs adhesion let me hear them haha. I will definitely be coming back to this brand for other ABS needs I have had no issues so far with this brand. ... show more

  • Great Filament and Easy to Print
Color: Pla Black Material Type: Polylactic Acid
PLA is should be the easiest filament to print and this one is no different. I used the same setting as I would use for the SUNLU PLA+ and it worked perfectly. I am using a direct drive Sovol SV01 printer with the following settings: .4 Nozzle .2 Layer Height 215 Print Temp 65 Bed Temp 45 mm/s Print Speed I skipped all temp tower and etc. and just went straight for my first print. It turned out perfectly with little to no stringing. For it being PLA it was strong and had very good layer adhesion. Maybe, I just got lucky with the setting on my first try, but sometime when I tried to print this same thing with different filaments you can totally see the problems. But with this filament, the screen like walls was strong and did NOT crack or fall apart when I applied moderate pressure to it. My initial impressions when I pulled the roll out of the box was… PERFECT!!! love to cut open a brand-new roll of filament and hear the air being sucked in the airtight bag. Believe it or not, I have encountered a lot of filament that did not come in a bag that was completely airtight. Then I notice the filament was not shiny like all the other PLA (PLA, PLA+, SPLA) from SUNLU. I included some pictures to show how it looks in compression to SUNLU SPLA and PLA+. I kind of like the matte look but in the end, after I printed my first test, it was not matte. That is okay but I was hoping it could be. Maybe if I lower the print temperature that will affect the final product? I will need to do more testing to see if that is the case. As of now, with my current settings, the end product still produces and shiny print. ... show more

  • Seems to work pretty good
Color: Black+white+grey+red+blue Material Type: Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene
I just started doing 3D printing, using a XYZ DaVinci 1.0 Pro. After using up most of the spool that came with it (ABS), I ordered several different brands/colors/types to try out. This was my first one to try since it was white and I am printing a cabinet in my shop for organizing my resistors. I needed tiny (and I mean TINY) drawers because there's so many different standard values. I have rarely found a commercial cabinet that worked well; most are just too big and cumbersome. Anyway, I started out with the white ABS roll in the Jayo 5-pack. A little trouble initially with warpage but that's expected (the DaVinci 1.0 Pro bed only goes up to 90 degrees). Once I got that solved, this thing is printing like a maniac! The filament from Jayo is smooth, precise, and seems to flow well. It is performing at least as good as the XYZ filament that I had. It is also repeatable, which I like. I get one good print and I can repeat that unattended, just recalibrate the bed every few prints. 5 stars, will definitely consider buying again. This 5-pack is a good deal as well, averaging only $14 a roll. ... show more
