  • NO FAN, 24 Volt AC Wall Wart
Color: Fd White
This dryer uses a AC wall wart with 24 Volt DC output (2 Amps). That makes installing a circulation fan a bit more challenging. (I seem to have lots of 5 and 12 volt fans but 24 volt fans are a bit shorter in supply). What is interesting is that the manufacturer's engineering staff included a fan in the circuit board design but the cost cutting production managers left out the components (2 resistors, 1 transistor, 1 diode and 1 connector) to implement it ... that might have added a "nickel" to their production costs. Minus one star for NOT including a proper circulation fan to begin with. Minus another star for intentionally crippling the PCB. The wee little white plug for the filament hole has already fallen out and disappeared. That bit was a complete waste of time, money and material. Also nothing fits the upper hole (it is a different size from the one in front). For instructions go to youtube. The supplied documentation is pretty much worthless. Edit: Having done the modification once, I would not consider it worth the time and effort when there is little cost difference between “SunLu/Jayo S1” plus the required fan and switch verse a “eSun eBox” that is made properly to begin width. ... show more

  • It's PLA, but the price is right and it's consistent
Color: Pla-white 1kg
The short version: it's PLA. It's consistent, expected quality, didn't tangle, and produced quality prints without marks or deformations. It did what I expect the filament to do. My printer did what I expected it to do. But they worked together seemlessly, which is the best you can hope for with filament, especially PLA. It was easy to dial in and seems to be forgiving on temps and speeds. The price is good and there are many colors to choose from. Onto the detailed review.... First, I'd like to point out that having so many item types listed under one listing, adds confusion for customers. At least separating the products by material type, would be more helpful. It's a pet peve of mine but doesn't affect the actual product itself. So onto the review. I purchased the Jayo WHITE PLA 1.75mm 1KG spool. Another reviewer commented on the non-standard inner spool diameter, but to be honest, I wouldn't say a standard really exists. Most people 3D print their own or use spool boxes (I use one). For closed-source printers, such as Flashforge, the spool holder it comes with is designed specifically for their brand. Others, such ad Qidi, use elevated bars that run through the spools. In any case, if you're not sure about printing your own holder (there are plenty on Thingiverse) and you want an exact fit, you'll have to go with the brand your printer recommends, which is usually their own brand. The filament is wrapped properly on the spool and I had no issues with overlapping, snagging, or tangling during printing. This is rare these days for any spool you purchase direct on Amazon, but it does happen. It didn't happen for me at all after nearly half a spool. It's not overwound or too loose and was consistently wound neat. Note: I use a SUNLU filament box and run it at 55c during printing, to keep my filament consistently temped and dry. This helps with print quality and extrusion consistency, but isn't necessary. Always keep your filament sealed with some silica packets when not in use. Vacuum bags they have here on Amazon work well, and the silica packets are cheap. Filament consistency: the filament extruded consistently, and while I keep my filament dry through the entire print process, I did not experience any bubbles, jams, or deformities in my prints. Filament quality: it's PLA, so you should expect the simplicity and convenience that PLA is known for. Though I typically use PLA+ or PC for most of my prints (depending on its use case), I have started doing my own designs for custom odd and end household parts, brackets, etc that I need. Prototyping is the slowest part of the process because you often have to wait hours to print a prototype just to find out that you forgot to consider something, or had a measurement that was off. This is where I use PLA. I can print it fast. I typically print above normal recommended temps, pushing 230c nozzle and 65c bed. But that's on a Flashforge Guider 2s dialed in using the HT hot end (longet contact area between filament and metal than standard hot end) and print speed around 60-70 for base speed. It seems to be the best balance for me. The prototypes came out in the quality I expect from PLA, without marks or irregularities. As I said up front, with many competitors in the PLA market, you want to find filament that, all qualities equal, has the best price and/or color choices for your needs. And Jayo PLA has quite a list of colors, and the price is right. 5/5 would recommend. ;) ... show more

  • Yes they really help! With a minor mod anyway.
Color: Fd White
I wasn't super sure these things would be of much help. Seemed kind of sketchy that a warmer essentially, would do much for the filament. Well, I was wrong. Kind of. After watching a youtube video on how to mod the unit to add a fan and doing so, as well adding a desiccant pack, it's doing a fantastic job of keeping my PETG and PLA dry. On its own, I don't think it's anything to write home about. It will create a hot spot under the filament and not much more. It also doesn't arrive with the insulation on the sides like it shows in the images, but that's alright, I fixed that too. After the mods though, it is pretty effective. I took a new 1kg roll of Duramic PETG that had been used once on a small project and was sealed with the desiccant and weighed it prior to a run with the dryer box, newly modded. It weighed 887.9g, ran it for a total of 4 hours and it dropped to 887.1. Nearly a full gram of moisture pulled out of a basically new roll. Next test, run a roll of Inland PETG that I was about to throw in the garbage because I couldn't get it to not string, bubble or blob while printing. Mind you I didn't weigh it I just dried it. WOW!!! Not only did it fix the problems, but it stopped me from chucking a $22 roll in the bin. I wired the Winsinn 4010 24v blower fan to the output leads of the heater element rather than the power input socket like the video showed. This way it runs only when heating, rather than when plugged in regardless of state of the unit. Works like a champ. For what it costs (mods included) vs what I gained, it's a no brainer! Money well spent. Now when I print, all rolls are in the box, no matter what. ... show more

  • Works well and heats to design temperature
Color: Fd White
The drawing box seems to work pretty well. It would be nice if there was an on/off switch. Right now the only way to deal with that easily is just to unplug it. It might be nice to also have a pocket or a space to put desiccant packets. Even if it is not a circulating air, it would just keep the interior dryer overall. And that would be good for an all-purpose storage. I've attached a picture showing the temperatures of the inside of the box. Using a good quality meat thermometer, it reads The same temperature that the machine is set for. So I would say that it does offer consistent heating. That's measuring just the air temperature. Overall a pretty good value. ... show more
