This is what we needed to get things up to the second floor of our house now that we are older and can't carry things up the stairs. We actually live in the second floor of the house because we're built into a hillside with garaging and workshops on the "first floor" My son in law installed it for us on the upper deck...he needed extra tool and we at 78 couldn't not have done this on our own. It's heavy and arrived in a very sturdy wooden box which is being recycled into a large flower box. It works well, though it says remote, it's really a control that hangs on 2ft cords. Had hoped it was one we could have kept downstairs to call the box we attached to come down so we could load from the car when we got home, then send the box up to off load. Also there is not way to recharge it without disconnectiing the small recommended battery. We will need to work on that system. Certainly not attractive on the deck, but since we live on a small ranch, we're not worried about the neighbors seeing it and we needed the help more than beauty. It gives us about 5 lifts per charge of the small battery, I think we might get a bigger one if we can't figure out a way to keep it on a trickle charge and still use it. I just got it today and this thing is built like a tank and appears well engineered. It is heavy but I believe for the tasks I'll be applying it to it is necessary. Why only 4 stars? Because there are improvements that could be made which I won't go into here but as is I definitely recommend. FYI: I will be making modifications so I can use it stabilized by the hitch but also from an extension and feet. This way I don't drill the truck bed and I can set it up left side or right side. ... show more

This lift does the job. I'm using it with an aluminum cargo carrier rack intended for a trailer hitch, minus the steel bar. There is another review on here where the fellow is using this lift the same way I am, to lift cargo to a second-floor landing. What I want to pass on is that I am using a Denfix SMPS 110 volt AC to 12 volt 50 amp DC converter that I bought on Amazon. This eliminates the hassle of dealing with a battery. I would have preferred a 110 volt winch but there wasn't much available. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Love this hoist, I needed something to lift heavy cargo like my generator on and off my flatbed. However, I didn’t want it mounted all the time so I fabricated a sub frame under the bed and extended the mast with some 1/4” wall steel pipe and a 50A Anderson plug so I can slide it in or out as needed. I added a Zirk fitting for greasing the bearings, ran the cables for the winch down through the center and repainted it to match my trucks color scheme. One downside, it is advertised as a wireless winch and it’s not. I actually ended up replacing the winch with a Badland 2000 pound ATV winch that does have a wireless remote in addition to the wired pendant. ... show more

Tried to lift 1000 LBs and the winch motor would bog down and stop. Wasn’t a power issue. Simply isn’t able to do what they claim.

    • Well, it's kina hit or miss
I don't normally leave reviews but please be aware that the re are a few things that are concerning. 1. The bearings have no oil, so get the 2 bearings out and pack them with grease. easy fix. 2. The solenoid went bad the second time I used it and it left me stranded... Not acceptable, and I had to buy a new one to get it going. 3. The small pin that holds the cable aligned at the very end of the hoist broke. 4. The switch was wired backwards, another easy fix. 5. The welds seem minimal. Another easy fix as I can add a few welds to reinforce it. Other than that I found assembly very easy and good looking unit and would possibly consider buying it again. I did find the warning of "Don't hang people" amusing. ... show more
