Reel will work well for panfish and other uses of that nature. Do not feel as reel will last a long time as you get what you pay for. Time will tell. Good reel for the money though and own multiple now.

I’ll cut straight to the chase, I’ve used this reel a few times a week for a couple of months now and it’s fine for what I paid for it, but I don’t think I’d recommend it. Standout pros for this reel are it’s affordability and it’s remarkably light weight. It’s certainly not a high quality product but I was expecting much worse for the price; it’s made cheaply but not poorly. I’ve had to oil it once because it started grinding and making loud noises, but the oil got it working smoothly again. The one MAJOR CON, and a deal-breaker for me, is that the line does not lay well on the spool, it regularly overlaps and twists my line into extremely frustrating knots. I could forgive almost any other issues for such an affordable feel, but this has cost me more in replacing line than I saved by foregoing a more competent reel. I’ve seen many reviews here mention that the bail knocks on people’s fingers when they reel in line. I’ve experienced this but it hasn’t been a major issue for me. I could see how, if your rod grip was directly over top of the bail, that this might be a problem, but for me it is more of a minor annoyance than a real issue. In closing, this reel is fine for the money, but I don’t recommend using it for much more than an emergency backup, since it’ll cost you more in replacing hopelessly twisted line than you’ll save by choosing this over a slightly more expensive competitor. ... show more

I got the 5000 size to pair with my Berrypro Blaze 10 ft surf rod. Looks amazing with the vibrant red spool. However, the drag isn't the greatest. I was pulling up small stingrays and leopard sharks but you could really feel the reel struggling. I'm giving it a high rating because it's a top tier cheap product. It has gotten the job done so far with what I'm catching but I wouldn't be mad if it couldn't handle a 30+ pounder. I recommend if you're already looking at this price point. Just don't expect it to perform miracles. I have the size 1000 on my ultralight setup and it's perfect for panfish and trout. Haven't had the privilege of testing it on a big bass yet but I'm pretty confident it is up to the task. ... show more
