I just baked a loaf of sourdough with Pierre’s silicone baking mat today. The loaf turned out beautiful. There wasn’t any mess to clean up in my Dutch Oven, which as a mom of 4 busy preteens and teens, is a major positive! It beats using parchment paper, and was very easy to move from the counter and into my pre-warmer DO…I love that it is just as easy to remove from the DO and allow to cool on a rack. Another plus is the fact that it is dishwasher safe! I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reusable baking mat!

Since I saw these are the cleanest of the bread slings, I bought three. One for my 10" two pound loaf cast iron bread oven, and two to cut down to fit my Nuovvo double well cast iron dutch oven. They were easy to cut down to fit the bottom of the wells, and they do not stick to the loaves. I threw away all of the silicone slings I had as I read most have some toxicity, where these do not.

I'm a avid sourdough baker. I usually bake 2 to 3 loafs every other week. No idea why I never looked into these silicone mats. No need to use parchment paper any more and very easy to clean . Like all silpats, you need to wash them really well and burn them off in the oven before using them place in oven on sheet tray and bake for 15 minutes on 375') It helps eliminate the funky smell they give off when you first use them.

This bread mat worked great for my sourdough boules. Previously I had been using parchment paper and it would sometimes burn due to the high temp in the oven. I much prefer using this reusable mat. Just made the whole process easier.

This product works great for its intended purpose. I love the fact that I don’t have to use disposable products to bake bread now. It is non-stick and fits great in my Dutch oven. Make sure to keep the arm flaps inside unless you want to vent your bread. I will say, the shiny surface makes a glassy bottom on my bread, granted I’m sure that contributes to the non-stick value. Make sure to watch it well before use, it had a chemical smell at first.
