Some other models of Phomemo printers have been reverse engineered on github, with open source drivers written for them, but this model isn't one of those. I'm very uncomfortable trusting closed source drivers with all the spyware, trojans, and viruses in them these days. I submitted the main linux render executable (rastertoM08F) to virustotal, and it didn't report any known viruses, but it had something called a "Mitre Signature" which I'm not familiar with. I ran it in a virtualbox, just to test the printer with its driver anyway, and it's actually quite loud. The whole point of something like this is to be able to print in a crowd, like a classroom, library, restaurant, etc. and in every one of those cases, I would not want to fire up a loud machine like this. Honestly, I'm not sure that I can recommend this printer. The price seems too high as well, and it's missing a major feature that competing products have (printing on normal paper with thermal transfer ribbon). I'd look at other options instead of this one.

I was very skeptical as to how well this little portable printer would work at first. Especially being inkless and using thermal paper, but I am so happy that I gave it a shot! Upon receiving it it was very well packed inside of the box with plenty of cushion so there was no damage whatsoever to the printer or any scratches or paint chips. It was an absolute immaculate condition. It comes with the printer as well as some paper in a charging device so you can easily charge this up four on the go printing! It comes with a manual as well that is very easy to read and understand for an easy setup experience. After getting it out I charged it up immediately and I was very surprised by how fast it charged up! After charging it up I was able to set it up and it literally took no time to get set up and ready to go. I love that it has Bluetooth capabilities so I can easily connect it to my phone to print off any documents from my phone. Now I no longer have to email myself the documents so that I can print them off for my PC and deal with the hassle of that. This is really as easy as it sounds after connecting your Bluetooth and having the app you can easily select the documents and make sure it's the size that you need and everything and print it out! The real game changer here is that this printer is 100% in English so no more purchasing ink and toner on the side and spending tons of extra money to keep your printer going. You will just need to purchase thermal paper that is specifically designed to work with thermal printers. It's obviously a slight bit more than regular paper but it beats buying the ink and toner all day! After trying this out it easily printed off the documents that I needed and it was plenty dark enough that you could easily read and understand it all. I think it's cool that it also says you can use tattoo adhesive thermal paper and you would be able to print out tattoos from this as well! I may have to try it out just for the heck of it! I think this is an excellent value for the money especially that it is portable and you can literally stick it in a backpack or tote bag and take it with you anywhere! That's my favorite part about it I can print on the go as long as I have a good charge on it. This is also very well made and although it is lightweight and easily carried around it is also sturdy and durable it seems like it would not easily break in the event that it would accidentally fall. Got to give this a 10/10 for sure really could not be happier with it!

This thermal printer saved me today. Ordered it hoping it would, and it definitely did! My printer is so old the driver doesn’t even exist anymore, and it’s not Bluetooth anyways, so I’d have to email whatever to my computer if I had managed to connect it at all. I desperately needed to be able to print documents for an appointment, and life just gets so crazy busy that I didn’t have the time to get to my printing needs until an hour before my appointment this morning. I had already downloaded the app, and had the printer charged and waiting for me. When I first went into my settings and Bluetooth, I could see the printer under “other devices” but if I clicked on it to connect, it said the device was unsupported. Tried not to feel discouraged (I know I can also download the driver and set it up on my laptop as well, which I plan on doing anyways, just not today!) and opened the app. It quickly found and successfully connected the printer to my iPhone13. Apparently it is supported, it just needed to connect via the app during the initial setup. The app was so self explanatory that it only took a few seconds to upload my file from the downloaded files on my phone (“local files”), slide a piece of paper into the slot, and print out that first document. The quality was perfect. I then went to a few of my accounts and saved a additional files that I needed, and when I clicked upload from the app, they were right there at the top waiting for me as my most recent files. Chose which pages I actually wanted to print, and Printed all of those out as well. It prints so fast! Only needed about 5 minutes to print out everything that I needed. The first document was an application that I would have had to acquire at the appointment, and can literally cause an additional hour or more of waiting, as it’s first come first serve. Finding the correct form and filling it out is a big waste of time when other people are walking in after you and getting in line. I was able to fill out the document on the way, and it was immediately accepted without even a comment about the quality or anything. It looked just as good as the forms they provide. I chose medium for the initial ink setting, and apparently that was a good choice. I love that I could have tossed this printer into my bag and brought it with me if I had still needed to print anything while I was there. I was in and out of there in 25 minutes. Pretty convenient! Very happy to have this thermal printer for work, school and home use.
