  • Awesome Features!
The media could not be loaded. This is a review for: " Topwise G2-B 1D 2D Bluetooth Barcode Scanner with Holder" This thing is is awesome and truly universal. There are multiple settings and customization to make this work with just about any POS system or even just use it without a POS system or software. While this has many features it worked for my purpose right out of the box albeit I did change a few annoyances. I would like to get out of the way that I don't run or own a shop where I scan merchandise nor do I really need something like this but I decided to get this to try to mimic something I saw in one of my information Technology groups I am a part of. I did nt even know if I could make it do what I wanted but it did right out of the box. Someone in one of my IT groups posted a video of themselves logging into their computer by scanning a Coke bottle UPC. I have a unique issue I haven't been able to resolve with my PC where even though I primarily use PIN login after a November 2023 patch my PC began switching between PIN and Password login randomly. It's not a huge deal but frustrating so I thought hey, IF I can get this to work I can simply generate two QR codes, 1 for PIN and one for Password and depending on my PC's mood Ill scan one or the other. First order of business I plugged in the USB dongle and I decided that if it auto uploads data I should be able to see "something" if I put my cursor in notepad and then scan something. I found a nearby UPC and scanned it and boom, it put the numerical code in my notepad and moved the cursor to the next line. Hmmmm. Interesting, it reads and transmits the code then hits enter. Interestingly enough in computer programming an "ENTER" is the same thing as a CRLF(Carriage Return + Line Feed) or the same as a type-writer so it returns the carriage then feeds the line down one line. This told me that once scanned it would hit return or enter, same as when typing a Password in Windows login screen. Coincidentally in Windows Hello when you type a pin, once the last digit is pressed it just logs in if its correct and no return is needed so I did not know if this would cause an issue. After reading the manual the CRLF is default and can be turned off, Great! I generate a QR with my PIN and a QR with my Password and printed them out on a 3x5. I locked my screen and on the pin screen I scanned the pin QR, boom it logged me in. Perfect! Things I don't like: * The power on Beep is LOUD, I emailed Topwise on their support email in the manual and was sent a PDF with UPC's for volume settings(Levels 0 - 7), a UPC to turn power-off beep to OFF and a UPC to turn power on Beep to OFF. The power on Beep to off UPC caused the unit to get stuck in a beeping loop so I ended up just scanning the rest QR in the manual followed by setting the beep volume to level 0 (lowest), as well as turning off the beep for each scan. The manual contains a tong of settings QR codes: language, pre-codes, post-codes, , scan mode, reset to factory, Buzzer, Vibration, Power Level, length of On time etc. I suggest scanning the manual and printing and laminating it as a single card for future needs, in fact I don't know why they didn't do that to begin with. I wish also that ALL the many settings were included rather than having to email for things as simple as volume levels. The two major things I did not like are the folding stand, I wish it was a solid one piece design, and the lack of a wrist lanyard. Overall this is a universal all in one solution that is very versatile and will likely meet your needs, I suggest this! ... show more

  • Probably perfect for any barcode scanning application, as long as it's not long-distance.
I don't have a typical use for a barcode scanner, so I couldn't tell you how it might operate in a more typical production environment, but it took nothing to set up (just plug it in-- I believe the machine sees it as a keyboard). I scanned everything I could find and, as long as it was a common standard bar or QR code (as opposed to a Venmo, Snapchat, Facebook, proprietary kind of code), it scanned instantly without any issue-- one or two items took a couple passes to pick up. I also then hand-verified everything I was scanning to make sure what was going into the machine was what was actually the code under the barcode (for QR codes, it's not printed by the code, but you can tell quickly if what the QR code gives you is nonsense or not). I don't have a need to use it wirelessly, and I have way too many wireless things happening here already to feel like I could test it properly. My expectation is that, as it functions as a keyboard, the dongle should work about that reliably. That said, I could not get it to work as readily as the USB cable when I tried it after my initial tests, but I do think this is a me problem, rather than the device. The device was acknowledging the connection of USB receiver, as well as when it was disconnected, so I think the issue is configuration in my machine. ... show more
