Needed a desk lamp for an L shaped corner office desk so i purchased an Amazon Choice Lepower Metal Desk Lamp that had a lot of sales with good reviews . The lamp was too short, didn't light up the desk adequately, and a standard size light bulb stuck out below the shade and was a bright glare in my eyes. after returning the Lepower lamp i did a lot of searching Amazon for a light that was taller and produced enough light for my corner desk appication. Many T bar style lamps were listed on Amazon however many of them had negative reviews of one shortfall or another. My searching for the best corner light application led me to Youtube searching for videos that reviewed desk lights in general. After several videos i viewed the PHIVE 31.5" SUPER WIDE LED DESK LAMP AND THOUGHT THIS MIGHT BE THE LIGHT FOR MY CORNER DESK APPLICATION. A search on Amazon the light was available and the specs listed the light at 31.5 inches wide, 31.5 inches high from the top of the desk, 20 watts of power, 4 light modes, and 5 brightness levels. I purchased the Phive light as well as the 4 yr Amazon extended warranty and the light arrived yesterday. First out of the box impressions were it was easy to assemble requiring only one screw to hold the light bar on top of the vertical support and base. The clamp is metal and the C inside dimension of the clamp has three bolting positions for desk top thickness and is adjustable for desks tops up to 3" thick. Optimum clamp assembly is to bolt the c clamp together at the narrowest position that fits the desk top. I initially positioned the light close to the right side of my 21" wide by 16" tall monitor with the thought i would power it up in this position and then move it around to the best location. I did not have to move or reposition it at all! The light easily was adequate for a monitor much larger than mine and covers a big enough area i do not even need the overhead room light on. Without measuring i would estimate the light covers 4 to 5 feet across the corner monitor position of my desk. The position the light is placed in the picture has 25" of clearance from the desk to the bottom edge of the lightbar,the left end of the light bar is just passed the center of the monitor and pretty much is centered on my keyboard. The solid lower portion of the lamp base measures 16 1/2 inches from the desk top and the moveable portion of the stem can be adjusted to infinite configurations. Where i have it positioned is bent foreward starting at the mid portion of the flexible mast to a position approx 10 inches from the back edge of the desk. This puts the light in front of the monitor screen and a great position for lighting the keyboard as well as writing notes on the right side of my desk. The touch controls are very nice and whatever settings you prefer your lighting to be in color and intensity there is a memory feature that turns the light on to those settings. The on /off touch pad is illuminated when the light is off for easy reference and none of the touch pads are illuminated when the light is on. I currently have the light on mid settings both on color and intensity. Only one thing that would improve on this light. The light bottom and upper mast as well as the light bar are a non glare matte finish and the plastic c clamp base cover is a high gloss plastic. Would have been better as a matte finish like the rest of the light. THIS LIGHT IS HIGH ENOUGH AND PRODUCES ENOUGH LIGHT FOR MY CORNER L SHAPED OFFICE. THERE WERE MANY CHEAPER SIMILAR STYLE LIGHTS AVAILABLE ON AMAZON BUT READ THE REVIEWS AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK. THIS IS A GREAT LIGHT AT A FAIR PRICE..........................over ONE year later and i couldn't be more happy with this light!

I really do love this light. I ordered 2 of them. Was getting ready to order a 3rd one, but they no longer come in black, the sliver just looks cheap...jmho. But I may have too cause this is a really great light.

This light is so close to perfect, but it has a couple of drawbacks. The top of the light is not very flexible and the length of the neck is a little too short. I have 3 monitors mounted at the height prescribed by a ergonomic consultant from my health insurance. The light is just tall enough to clear the monitors, but it doesn't quite bend far enough to keep the light from shining in my eyes. As a work around I backed the light up a bit and lived with a few shadows from the monitor on my desktop. Then I noticed that the clamp can open to 3 inches and my desktop is less than 1 inch thick. So I place a piece of scrap wood between the desk and the base of the clamp. This raised the light just enough to bend the neck over the monitor and angle the light down so that it doesn't shine in my eyes.

If you're like me, then you googled 19 different options for a light that you could use on your new work-from-home office/desk set-up. And you probably found this light (the Phive) and a nearly identical light from EppieBasic. Yes, this light will arc high enough to go over a laptop on a stand and a monitor mounted to an arm on your standing desk! Between the Phive and the Eppie, I am reluctantly, probably keeping this one (the Phive). Even though it is 20W (and the other is 24W) this one is brighter (top range of 3900-4000 lux vs 3400-3800, depending on which color). I say reluctantly because aesthetically, this one is a bit cray. The light itself is much bulkier than the Eppie. But the truly odd thing is how many different materials this light is made of. The cover for the clamp (what will actually sit on your desktop) is thick shiny white plastic. The bottom half of the post is brushed aluminum. The piece connecting the light post to the gooseneck is a shiny, sort of grey-white plastic. The gooseneck is covered in a white-ish matte silicone sleeve. The clamp attaching the light bar to the gooseneck is shiny light grey/white plastic, the endcaps of the light are flat white plastic, and the bulk of the light bar is brushed aluminum, but a brighter colored alumium than the post. There are 5-7 different materials! If it were all white or all silver, it would look sleek and modern. As it is, the different pieces are not distinct enough to appear modern or even "color-block." And they are dissimilar enough and the light is bulky enough that it cannot look minimalist or unobtrusive. When I bought this there was a $10 coupon. The light is tall enough to arch over my monitor+laptop stand set up. And it's bright. So, given all that, it's the best I am likely to find. However, if you care about design, or get distracted by slightly offset design (ie: you're the kind of person who notices kerning mistakes) or you care about keeping your ergonomic setup stylish, you might need to keep looking. I really wish this light were just one material or one color. It's so close to being the light I wanted.
