It is a very good toothbrush, I have been buying and using Sonicare products for years -- the current one, 9500, now dead, was purchased in 2020 -- and I am looking to replace it. Each of the toothbrushes (5 in number over the past decade) have failed (approx 18 months of use) in the same way -- the vibration energy that should be directed to the brush is not - the brush gets noisy and the brush vibrations cease - you are reduced to using an expensive brush as a manual brush. On the positive side, the travel case is very useful, no worry about voltage, it uses an USB-B integrated connector: I am hoping that for my next brush iteration Philips will have moved to USB-C. The 9500 does an excellent job, the timer, pressure sensor, various power/intensity settings are all useful. So, in the market again for a new Philips - but a great deal of reluctance to spend this much for a unit that will fail -- wonder wife just stares at me, using her Oral-B rotary brush that she has been using for about a decade without issue when I, once again, start trying to decipher the Philips Sonicare catalogue. ... show more

    • Nice upgrade from older models

I’ve been a proud Sonicare user for about 6 years now. My old one wasn’t holding a charge as long as it used to and the handle began to vibrate more than the brush head so I decided it was time for a new one. This one is a clear upgrade from my old one. It’s quieter and the handle vibrates significantly less. I like the brush heads and how the toothbrush settings adjust to the type of brush head you use. The toothbrush also senses when you’re brushing too hard and alerts you. I’ve been using a toothpaste with essential oils for years and won’t use anything else. I read that you shouldn’t use essential oils or coconut oil with these brush heads but I did it anyway. Turns out they’re right, bristles fall out in 2-3 weeks. I’ll go back to using generic brush heads before I give up my toothpaste. I don’t mind paying 8x as much for the Sonicare brush heads but I won’t do it if they only last me a few weeks, especially when the generic ones last months. That’s why this one rates 4-stars for me. As far as Bluetooth goes, I haven’t connected. I’m already annoyed at how many of my home appliances have apps and I can’t imagine why a toothbrush needs to connect to my phone’s bluetooth. I’m in my 40s and I’ve never had a cavity so I don’t think I need an app to tell me when to brush my teeth. ... show more

    • Ehhhhhh….not great.

I wanted to really love this toothbrush, I researched them over and over and finally decided on this brand and version having used electric toothbrushes all of my life I must admit I was still shocked how clean my teeth felt after brushing for the first week, but two weeks, after purchasing the base no longer recognizes the head attachment so if you didn’t know which one was which you would have to guess. As far as the other bells and whistles…. as the title says , “ehhhhhh” the case is cool for traveling and can be plugged in but the brush base can go for 16 brushings on a single charge , so I don’t know if most people will ever need to take the bulky case around for most of the vacations or trips. The glass, which is always heavily featured on this product. I never understood the brush already have a base that charges the glass really just sits on top of the base if you choose to put it there but other than that, I don’t really understand the use or value. Sure, you don’t have to line up the brush base with the dock anymore and can just throw the brush in the glass and it’ll start charging, but is it really that hard to line up the base and the connector otherwise? Now the main feature of the toothbrush is undoubtably the bluetooth application that will monitor how you brush and tell you if you were brushing too hard or not enough in certain areas, then takes her information and uploads it to the application, which will tell you how to improve your brushing and will notify you of when it’s time to order new brush heads, again a cool feature, but when it comes down to it, the app loses its value after a week, and you realize it’s just a cheap sales gimmick, which doesn’t even work unless you have your phone directly next to you with the app open when you’re brushing your teeth, or else, none of the information is recorded and the app looks at it as if you somehow missed a brushing for that period. So buy the toothbrush and enjoy the novelty for the first week or two, but be prepared to feel like you've been had and probably paid way too much for just an average toothbrush. 😅👍 ... show more

    • I love it! Way better than using a manual brush

I like how well this brush works. It has 3 different speeds; I use speed 2. There are several different heads available and the brush detects which head is on the unit, on its own. The Bluetooth app is handy, but once I learn the proper technique for this brush I’ll skip the app. It’s a good training tool but a bit annoying for me to use. This is my first ever sonic toothbrush and this one works great. It comes with three different heads for 3 different goals. It also comes with a tongue cleaning head. As far as charging the handle, it can be done a couple different ways. If traveling it can be placed in the included travel case using a USB plug to get electricity. For every day use, there is an induction charger that is plugged into the wall. There is a choice of two different tops, or perhaps holders is a better term. The main one is a heavy drinking glass. Place the glass on top of the charging unit and drop the brush into the glass and it charges. I don’t like that one because it’s too bulky. There’s another option that is much smaller. It’s a smaller, clear plastic piece that can be placed on top of the charger. The smaller piece has a square hole where the brush stands up. I think this is much cleaner looking than the glass. My only complaint is that while brushing with this, toothpaste and water run down the handle making it slippery and hard to hold. I wish it had some type of grip to it. Perhaps this is for cleanliness. I wash the brush and holder off after every use, then I dry it. Water doesn’t seem to hurt the buttons. The battery is lasting a long time so far. No problem there.
