It is a beautiful espresso machine, but the box seems to have been opened and the overall packaging is not complete, so I can only return the product.

  • Had some issues with first use, once working its the BEST upgrade ever to my home coffee
Style: Espresso Machine Color: Black
The media could not be loaded. Philips Baristina Espresso Machine, Grind, Tamp & Brew Coffee Beans in One Swipe, Compact, 16 Bar Pump Pressure, Automatic Grinder, Black with Black Portafilter (BAR300/60) Amazon keeps kicking back my review so I am going to try one more time. This machine has the possibility of being beyond 5 stars. I love EVERYTHING about it once I got it working. However, the seal was broken on the box, the seal was broken on the machine itself which made me worry it had been returned. There was random broken plastic inside the water tank but I looked the machine over and could not find anything cracked or chipped. I love coffee and I am familiar with expresso machines so this machine was super easy for me to figure out when it came to operating it. But it didn’t come with ANY instructions or troubleshooting help. A booklet of warnings was included and a code on the box that went to a site with some Q&A but my issue couldn’t be found there. Upon the first use, the machine spit and leaked water EVERYWHERE. Hot water. I figured it was broken between the broken seals, chunk of plastic and leaking water. However, I am familiar with coffee machines and absolutely LOVE coffee and I was determined to figure out the issue. I figured it had something to do with the bean grinder. So I shook the beans around, helped a few down the shute and also looked online for help. I discovered MANY have had the same issue on the first few uses and the fix was to do what I was doing and kinda shake some beans down the first use. Once that issue was resolved, the machine has worked PERFECTLY! It’s super easy to use but better instructions and troubleshooting is needed for those less familiar with espresso machines. You simply add beans to the top, place the portafilter into the slot, add water to the tank, pick the brew you want, espresso, Lungo or extra and then slide the portafilter to the right. Thats it. In no time, the filter slides back and brews this amazing flavored espresso. And the espresso is HOT, FLAVORFUL and just SO SO good!! I’m a coffee fiend and this little machine makes an espresso that could compete with much more expensive full size machines. It’s just that good. But where it really shines is with ice coffee. I have used the baristina to make everything from shaken espressos to blonde roast, to blonde shots in my chia tea for the best “dirty hippy” chia tea I’ve ever made at home! I’ve made so many flavored ice coffees since it arrived that I have not spent one dime in a coffee shop. I LOVE it. The portafilter has worked exactly as it should and zero leaks since the first use. If the directions had mentioned the issue with the beans flowing into the grinder the first use it would have kept me from thinking it was broken. I’m still confused about the unboxing issues and the chunk of plastic inside the tank but once I got it working it’s been the best upgrade to my daily coffee routine ever! ... show more

  • Quick, quiet, and easy to use.
Style: Espresso Machine Color: Black
When I received my Philips Baristina Espresso Machine, the security tape was cut on the box, so I was concerned that I was getting a returned item. When I looked everything over, the machine looked okay and unused. I then searched for an instruction book or card, but couldn't find anything until I saw the QR code on the box, which led me to the user manual. There was no way I was going to figure this thing out on my own, even though there are only three buttons. After rinsing, per instructions, I was set to make my first cup. I didn't take a photo, and I should've; it was just basically water. What I didn't realize is you have to sort shake the beans down into the grinder upon first use. The second cup turned out pretty okay from what I could tell, but I went ahead and made another one in a clear mug so I could see what I was getting. I'll mention that the turn-around on all three cups was pretty astounding! Much faster than a pod machine and definitely much much faster than a traditional espresso machine, (which I also own). What I love about this machine as opposed to either my pod machine or my espresso machine is the speed of which I can get a pretty decent cup of coffee. A lot of that is, I think, from having the freshly ground beans immediately prior to brewing. I really appreciate the quietness of the grind, also. I was expecting it to be very loud like my burr grinder, but it's nice and quiet. The ease of use is really nice for the person who doesn't want to spend the time learning the ins and outs of a trad espresso machine. The Philips Baristina takes all the guesswork out of the equation and makes a pretty good latte or cappuccino if you have a frother. I've made five cups so far experimenting with the machine. All but the last one was using the lungo size with the extra intensity set. The last one, I used the max custom size, but it would not let me hit the intensity button doing that. I got a regular cup of coffee that was a bit better than my pod machine. I'm a pretty basic coffee lover. I don't really have the highest standards. haha So while this doesn't have any bells and whistles per sae, other than the freshly ground coffee, this does make a more than decent cup quickly. So for someone who doesn't care about the specific grams of beans, the grind, the tamping, etc; this is going to be a pretty big step up from the pod machine while reducing waste at the same time. And while this machine won't replace either my pod or espresso machine, I definitely plan on making room for it. ... show more
