over the years I’ve tried many rechargeable options. I previously used Ni-MH rechargeable batteries from brands from Duracell, panasonicpanasonic. and EBL. While they worked, they had a few consistent drawbacks: heavier weight, lower 1.2V output, and longer charging times. Eventually, I gave up on recharging altogether and started buying Duracell AA and AAA battery packs from Costco for convenience. Everything changed when lithium-ion rechargeable batteries entered the market. However they're expensive. While browsing Amazon, I discovered Philips’ rechargeable lithium-ion battery set that comes with a smart charging case holding and had both option for AA and AAA batteries. What immediately caught my attention was the rated capacity—3600 mAh at 1.5V per cell for AA, and 1300 mAh for AAA which is a huge improvement over traditional Ni-MH batteries. That higher voltage alone makes a noticeable difference in device performance. When the product arrived, I was genuinely impressed. The batteries come neatly packed in a sturdy, high-quality plastic case. Each battery has its own dedicated slot, and the entire set charges through a USB-C port, making it extremely convenient. The case includes individual charging indicators for each cell, which is a thoughtful and practical touch. Philips clearly lists each battery at 3600 mAh, and based on my experience, I believe this is an honest rating—not the inflated numbers often seen with lesser-known brands. After fully charging the batteries, I tested them in my son’s toys, and they lasted at least three days longer than the regular Duracell disposable batteries I normally use. That result alone convinced me of their real-world performance. The best part is the portability and organization. Everything stays neatly stored in one case, and you can recharge the batteries anywhere using a USB-C cable—at home, in the car, or even with a power bank. I got tired of charging the NiMh batteries that came with my scanners because they took 14 hours to charge and they only supplied 1.2 volts. The radios only lasted about 5-6 hours before they were dead again. I got better life out of regular alkaline batteries, but they get expensive after awhile and they get recycled after only a single use. I really love these batteries from Phillips. They hold a 1.5v charge for a very long time before their voltage drops off and need recharging. The recharge is pretty quick when attached to a USB- C charger. The charger lights give you a good indication of each battery's charging state. These should last through over 1200 recharge cycles before their capacity starts to weaken, which is definitely a WIN considering how much money you're saving. I bought another 8 pack so that I can always a swap a freshly charged set without any waiting. I'm very happy with this purchase.

The best rechargeable battery station for the money. My biggest pet peeve with every other rechargeable battery charger was installing and removing the batteries, it was so annoying that I just stopped using them. This one is so easy to pop batteries in and out that I bought another one.

These batteries do NOT work in my camera flash units. The two different flash units have the same response - when I turn them on, after a few seconds they switch to displaying a "batteries low" screen, even though the batteries are fully charged. I've cleaned all contacts with alcohol, including the battery ends just in case. Apparently this means that the batteries have a very low discharge rate (something you won't find on the battery data) which the flash interpret as low charge batteries. This is bad... I only use AA batteries for my on-camera flash units so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with these. I've used non-rechargeable lithium batteries with no problems, and have run NIMH rechargeables in them for a couple years. Not sure what I'm going to do with these now... And: Don't buy from Amazon - if you get ONE bad battery, as I did, you find yourself having to return the entire thing - all 8 batteries plus charger. Note that the phone numbers and web support pages they list for "product support" are Philips own online store, and if you call they're baffled as to why you'd call them for support. After getting the full replacement, then I find out they won't work in my camera flash. Total loss.

Thus far the product has worked extremely well. The charging of the batteries is a little bit slower than I had expected, but the batteries seem to hold the charge very well and seem to function for a very good duration. I can definitely recommend this product.

These batteries are good overall, with a nice compact charger that has charging indicator lights to let you know the status of charge or if they are defective and not charging. And it's nice that they include a short USB-C cord to power the charger. Unfortunately, both my original order and post-return replacement order each had one defective battery that would not charge (indicator light shows red and zero on my volt meter). So, docking a couple of stars for quality control issues with an otherwise nice product.

The lid doesn't open to a full 90 degrees, so the back row is a bit more difficult to get the batteries in/out. Aside from that, it's a solid unit and has worked really well the past 2 months. I use the batteries in a touch pad door lock and they last well over a month before depletion. The batteries quickly charge again fully, after removal. I would purchase this kit again.
