Super happy with this reel. I am by no means a pro fisherman but I have been really getting into it in the past year. I had noticed the difference between the cheap reels I had bought and the even cheaper ones and when I broke one of the Walmart specials I decided to do some research. After reading a lot reviews on less than $100 spinning reels this one just kept popping up so I decided to go ahead and order it. I have been using it almost daily now for about a month and I absolutely love it. Everything feels really quality in the build. The casting and reeling in is crazy smooth. I have only used cheap reels so I cant compare this to any high dollar item but compared to the reels that I can buy locally for pretty much the same price I got this on amazon the president totally blows them out of the water. Would definitely recommend for budget fisherman looking for a quality reel. ... show more

    • Quality has Changed Drastically!

I am not one to write poor reviews on products typically but since I rely on reviews from others often, I felt this was worth sharing. As a preface, I gave it 2 stars based on price point and not for quality. This USED to be my favorite reel that I would recommend to anyone and up until recently, I have always been a strong Pflueger President advocate and supporter. This changed when I purchased 2 new versions of the reel - this one and the limited edition version. Both of which were a huge disappointment in comparison to my 10-15 old President. I was very shocked to find my old reel that has been used heavily was much smoother and functioned much more comfortably than 2 brand new ones out of the box. Contacting Pflueger to try to understand what has changed with their quality was a complete waste of time - they suggested I pay to ship the "damaged" reel back for repair which leads me to believe they didn't even read my email or concern. Needless to say, I would recommend old and used President reels over new and will be searching for my next "Pflueger President"/favorite reel from a different brand. Tight lines! ... show more

    • An Ultralight Reel I Can Trust and Depend On

I'd had a terrible history with closed-face ultralight reels. All too often, after only a year-and-a-half or so of use, they'd break down. So when I searched for "The Best of the Ultralight Reels" online it didn't surprise me that no matter what "Best of" list I came across, none included closed-face reels. That pretty much sealed the deal for me. I abandoned using closed-face reels and decided to buy an open-face ultralight spinning reel. My research turned up several "Bests", but I was drawn to the Pflueger 6920. Not only did it get glowing reviews from the likes of Field and Stream, and other experts, but the Pflueger 6920 came with an affordable and reasonable price tag. Upon receiving it I was impressed with how solidly made the reel was. I especially liked the thick bail wire, and the absolutely smooth, fast retrieve ratio. So far I've only used it a couple of times, but it performed perfectly and was a real pleasure to use. It appears to me to be an ultralight reel I can trust and depend on. ... show more

This is my favorite reel. I like it better than my shimano symetre reel that is twice the price. Takes a beating and keeps on ticking. I find the 6930 size is perfect for a light to medium light panfish/walleye rod. I pair it with St. Croix premier or avid rods. The Pflueger President is the smoothest spinning reel available at this price point. I own 8 of them, some of them 4 years old with heavy use, and they preform very well. I recommend them to anyone who wants a quality reel at a reasonable price.

    • Excellent value for the money
I have owned a 6930 for a couple years. I live on a lake and fish at least 200 days each year. The 6930 outlasted a Shakespeare and Daiwa reels I had on two other poles. Needed to replace those two reels. Bought the 6940 for the heaviest of the three poles. It arrived in two days. I loaded it up with line, walked down to the dock and caught two stripers 45 minutes after unboxing the reel. Of course, I am not saying the reel had anything to do with catching those two stripers. But I did like the way it cast and the feel on retrieval. I think these President reels are an excellent purchase for the money. When I finish writing this review, I am going to order the 6935 for my large mouth med/heavy rod. ... show more

Just ordered my 3rd Pflueger President Size 30 (2 for me and 1 for my dad). Can NOT beat the quality and price. It's just simply the best option for someone who will go freshwater fishing on a boat about 20-30 times a year. I'm fishing in Florida for Largemouth Bass primarily. I've landed a 7lb 13oz with it no problem whatsoever. The reel is very smooth and the drag is strong. 5 stars ... show more

    • Love these reels
Love these reels, sold all my Shimanos and switched over to these and couldn't be happier. Much smoother than the Shimano's I had and less than half the price, I sold 3 used Shimanos on Ebay for enough to pay for 6 Pflueger Presidents.
