  • STEEL WEAR PLATE: The stainless steel wear plate provides extra protection for the high-wear area on the GRIGRI (near the brake side of the rope).

The selector knob allows the user to choose between two belay modes: top rope or lead climbing. Reinforced with a stainless steel wear plate for intensive use, it can be used with single ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm.

I’ve had this device for 10 months or so now. No issues! It’s kept me alive without failure lol. I occasionally use this for solo climbing with stopper knots (probably don’t do that lol). It is kinda hard to switch it from lead/top rope but that might just be a me problem honestly. Unpackaging this thing was a nightmare but it’s good they packaged it so well 😂. I bought this after reading up recommendations for beginner climbing. It's an assisted braking device with auto lock if you pull the lever to far back. It helps locking the rope if you get nervous or freakout while letting someone down, which I naturally used the first few times. I have been using it for around 3 months now. The media could not be loaded. I like that this has the stainless wear plate and the adjustable tension on the side. I am not sold on the anti panic feature but I will say I really have not had a chance to get out and use it much. I have used the petzl ID with a similar feature for rope access work and I will say it can be annoying when the rope is not fully loaded. I imagine it’s not too hard to overcome and with practice will become easy to use. This is slightly heavier than a standard Grigri and even though they are similar in size. I was able to catch this on sale so the value for the money was hard to beat. Great product, and would have give a 5 star if it wasn't so hard to rappel with. It constantly trips the panic feature as I am going over the side of the cliff.
