REMOVE PURR MECHANISM BEFORE WASHING WARNING/INGESTION HAZARD: This product contains a hazardous button or coin cell battery. KEEP new and used batteries OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. Contains small parts. For cats only. These batteries are replaceable. A swallowed button or coin cell battery can cause serious internal chemical burns or fatal injuries in as little as 2 hours. Even used batteries may cause severe injury or death. Exhausted batteries are to be removed from the toy. Remove and immediately recycle or dispose of batteries from equipment not used for an extended period of time according to local regulations. This cat toy is super cute and the purr sound it makes sounds just like our cat purring. It is a little loud though, but our kitten really likes it. And it has come in handy when our kitten decides that bed time is play time. All I have to do is put her under the covers right next to me and put this soft toy right next to her, turn it on to purr, and next thing I know she will be purring too and she goes right to sleep. I have ferrel cats on our property to keep the rodent and rattlesnake population down. Therefore, cats are a very essential part of our ranch up keep. Unfortunately, every now and then, we find kittens that have either been abandoned or their mothers have died, leaving it up to me to supplement the feeding and be a surrogate mom. It's very demanding. And I'm going through it right now. I have a little kitten who has lost its litter mates and mom has rejected it because it had different smells on it. I'll explain later. This kitten is very aggressive and scratches and climbs more than babies it's usual age. So, I looked for something that would settle it down and found this Purr Pillow Kitty Calming Toy. It absolutely works and he loves it. He clings to it as it purrs and settles down so much faster than before. Not only does it comfort him, it gives him something to sleep with so he doesn't feel so alone. He was one of 5, but the others were killed by our neighbors dogs. My sister- in- law rescued it from the mouth of one of them, so we named him Chewy because he was almost a chew toy for that dog. Update: After a week or so, the kitten I bought this for decided she loved it. I had to regularly wash it because of how much she would suckle on it. It's now two months later, and she always wants this when she goes to sleep. It's mostly always on the bed in my office, and she comes in and kneads on it before falling asleep. If I don't notice she's come in, she'll meow at me to turn it on since she can't push the button hard enough. The other cats ignore it completely, so it's no longer scary for them, just not interesting. Upping to 4 stars since it just took her some time to get used to it. I would give 5 stars if it were easy enough to push the button for her to turn it on herself when she needs it and if it took AAA batteries or something more common. Original: I have an 8 week old kitten my neighbor brought me when he saw her thrown into the highway at 3 weeks old. While she has a wonderful playmate in the kitten about 3 months older that had followed me home on a walk the week before, she still shows signs of missing her mother when I cuddle her, so I thought the purring pillow would help for the times I can't cuddle her when she wants. Unfortunately, it's too loud and all of my cats hate it, with my male who has adopted the kittens trying to kill it and drag it away from them after seeing the kittens scared, not in a fun, playful way, but in a stressy, protective way, which I have to admit was cute and sweet. I don't have a cat's hearing and am not laying my head on it, and I think it's much too loud and sounds almost more mechanical than real because of that. It also doesn't look anything like the picture either, which they don't care about, but it's not nearly as cute as I expected it to be. I'll give it 3 stars because the baby kitten is sleeping cuddled up to it as I write this as long as I don't turn it on, but it's disappointing to not be able to give her as much comfort as I had hoped. ... show more

I purchased this little toy for my kitten back in August 2024. He absolutely loved it. I would have given it 5 stars. However, my dog got a hold of it and tore it up so this month, (November 2024), I decided to buy another one. The toy I received did not look like the previous one. It is a little bigger and the color and design is different. Not that there is anything wrong with it, I was just wanting it to look like the original toy. I contacted Amazon and stated that I wanted the toy as pictured. They had no problem sending another one but it was still the same one that was not as pictured! :( Just be aware that if you order this it will more than likely look like the picture I included. ... show more

It works like magic when you get cats used to them as kittens. I’ve tried with adult cats and there’s nos effect. With that said, my cat is 3 years old now and I bought this toy about three years ago. I never had any issues with this toy and only had to switch batteries once. Even with the battery dying, sounding a little weird and not loud enough, my cat would come to me when it started sounding. No matter what. I always use it when my cat is too agitated or even being aggressive, or when I want to go to bed and he’s not in the bedroom. I turn it on and he comes right away asking for cuddles.. by the time the sound stops, he’s laying down by my side ready to sleep. I wouldn’t think twice before buying another one if it broke, but I’m sure this one will last a very long time. It’s easy to take off the battery and wash it, but I also haven’t done that too many times, since my cat doesn’t drag it around, it just stays by his side of the bed at all times so I can activate it whenever necessary. I recently purchased this in hopes of providing my cat friend with a comforting companion while I’m away. To start, the purring sound is excessively loud. When I first turned it on, my cat was startled and immediately ran away. In the video I took, you can clearly see that she is not a fan of this toy. Instead of the calming effect I hoped for, it caused her stress and anxiety. A soothing toy should ideally produce a gentle, comforting sound, but this one fails in that aspect. Additionally, the design poses a significant issue. The toy features a button located inside that requires a considerable amount of pressure to activate. My cat, being a typical feline, has not been able to turn it on herself. This means she relies entirely on me to engage with the toy, which defeats the purpose of having a soothing companion for her when I'm not around. I also wish I had noticed earlier that the description advises against leaving the toy alone with unsupervised pets. This is concerning, especially since it’s marketed as a solution for separation anxiety. If it’s not safe to leave with my cat when I’m not around, then what’s the point of having it at all? While the toy looks cute and appears to be made of safe materials, the loud noise and impractical design make it unsuitable for my cat. I would not recommend this toy for those looking to soothe their pets. Instead, consider options that focus on quieter sounds and that cats can easily interact with on their own.
