Years and years ago, I had a sheet set that I didn't appreciate at the time. The kind of purchase you buy in your youth when money is no real issue but relegate to the back of the linen closet when you color preferences change. I rediscovered that set recently (no longer usable as we upgraded to a larger bed) and I realized...those sheets never pilled, never wore, never frayed. And here I am now with "soft" sheets, navigating and avoiding holes each night. Figuring repurchasing quality sheets would be pricey, I've put it off for months. Meanwhile, I'd been researching what is was about those original sheets that I liked so much. The tags had been long worn...no clue brand, material, or weave. What I'd determined was I liked their crispness, their weight, and their overall thickness. And what I needed to find would be long staple cotton. I discovered these sheets in particular on Amazon and the price was far less than I was expecting to pay. Some say itchy - I say crisp. Some say wrinkly - I say...duh. 100% cotton Some say lower thread count - I mention quality of thread used I'll update should I discover deteriation with use, but so far...these are PRECISELY what I'd been looking for. Update: nearly 1 year late, there has been no noticible wear. They are softer now, but still look great with no pilling for fraying. These were precisely the sheets I had hoped for.

These sheets are an amazing value! I got 2 full size sets for $67 on sale for my Mom for Christmas. I was so impressed by the quality that I returned to buy them for my own guest room. These sheets are 100% cotton, very soft, just the right thickness, and they wash really well. I wash on warm, normal cycle, and dry on medium heat. To avoid wrinkles, I recommend removing them from the dryer as soon as it goes off then lay them out to cool down before folding (I lay them over my dining room set for a couple hours before folding). If you do this, you will not have ANY harsh wrinkles. The feel and quality of the fabric compare well to my $110 cotton sheets from the dept store. Another reviewer had great advice to prevent pilling. She said that after every washing, you should wait at least 24 hrs before using sheets; this allows the fibers to settle which prevents pilling. If you have 2 sets on hand, it isn't a big deal to wait. The only negative is the stitching workmanship. After several washes, nothing is coming apart but there are a ton of random threads sticking out. Most are loose and can be pulled out carefully. The sheets don't seem to be coming apart though, so I'm still satisfied for the price. The fabric itself is fantastic quality, which makes it especially annoying that the company cheaped out on the stitching workmanship. These would have been 5 stars had it not been for the sloppy stitching. I still recommend these sheets and will likely buy another set for my master.

Finding sheets from this company gives me a solution to a frustrating problem. I’ve enjoyed 400 thread count Egyptian sheets for years in two bed sizes. Although I rotate the sheets, I’m aware of the wear on the sheets after years of use. I’ve looked and looked and researched and bought replacements claiming to be Egyptian cotton only to be disappointed in the quality, primarily pilling, which feels like sleeping on sand and not for me! True Egyptian cotton does not pill because the fibers are long. I’m happy to say that California Design Den carries the real product! Here is what I learned: if you like soft sheets, buy the 400 thread count. If you like the heavier, percale feel, order the 600 thread count. The 600 is a bit “crispy” and the 400 is not. I like them both. They do carry 500 and 800 which I have not tried. I have laundered both counts several times and slept on them with no problems and don’t expect any. Trust me, if they pill, I’ll update. I always wash my sheets in cold water and dry on delicate, including before the first use. The sheets are 100% cotton and have a polished cotton sheen to them. So many companies sell microfiber sheets and mattress pads disguised as cotton, but they never offer the comfort of real cotton. Microfiber wakes me in the night in a sweat every time, no matter what the temperature of the room. There are two more things that are wonderful about these sheets: First, the flat sheets are very generous in size with the sheet coming all the way down to the sideboard of the bed, and plenty to tuck in the bottom, even if you fold back at the top. Secondly, there are tags on the top and bottom of the fitted sheet that tell you it can be head or foot (rather than side). I can’t adequately express how helpful that is when making up a king bed that is almost square, but not quite! I look forward to a long relationship with California Design Den.

So far, 5 Stars. These sheets are beautiful and soft. Great value for the money. They do wrinkle but once on a bed a lot of the wrinkles stretch out. Also, initially they seemed a bit scratchy but after one washing are already much softer. I bought the blue floral queen sized for a spare bedroom bed. I'm now heavily considering buy a king set for the master.
