Something to think about before you purchase!…. Because this goes into the open space of your sliding door, you HAVE to account for the width space of your door! If you, like me, have a large dog and a normal size sliding door, YOU WILL NOT FIT. Meaning, all the videos show people installing the doors and having their dogs jump through. Perfect! I thought! But if you notice, none of the videos show a person “using” their sliding door WITH the dog door installed…. BECAUSE YOU CANT FIT THRU THE DOOR!! I really wished this worked for us, but we grill and carry things in and out.

The door took a couple hours to put in but I really took my time . There are so many different sliding patio doors so you need to proceed with the installation with that in mind. I needed to modify the installion slightly from the instructions to fit my particular door. They provided extra hardware to allow for different installations. As with any pet door you will be creating a significant security breach in to your home and you should be cognizant of that. There is also a major compromise in the weather tightness of your door. I have installed about ten pet doors over the years. This was my first installation in a sliding glass door and it was the easiest install I have encountered. The door flap is replaceable with the part number embedded right in the flap which is great. My 80 lb chocolate lab goes through the large size door easily. I’m happy with the door. I needed to remove the latch hardware from the door jamb of my existing door and it would help if the instructions mentioned you need to remove any existing hardware off of the jamb which the pet door will be installed against. It does not seal as strongly as I would like, wish the magnets were stronger as it blows open in a stiff breeze.

Let me preface my review with that I really like the quality of the glass and "human" parts of this dog door. Solid, easy to install and of a good quality. Why the two star review? The dog door itself is terrible and very flimsy, a mild breeze and the thing is flapping in the wind. Previously we bought a dog door by Freedom Pet Pass and LOVED it. I recommend that dog door to everyone who is interested in a dog door. We have actually owned two of them in two different houses and loved them to pieces, even in strong Nebraska winds. They were sturdy dog doors that held up to abuse and weather beautifully. But then we moved again and it was time for another dog door and Freedom Pet Pass does not have any Sliding Glass door dog doors. We live in a rental and so an in the door/wall option was not possible so we went with this Pet Safe dog door, the only dog door of its kind that will ship to our location. Installation was easy and with a little extra foam insulation tape the door was installed, snug and doing great. But then we noticed it flapping in the breeze while we were watching TV. Thought it was a one time thing and then it just kept going. Tried adjusting the flap etc to no avail. I even tried placing some very thin rare earth magnates on the bottom to help keep it closed and this helped but did not alleviate the problem. The issue is that the only thing keeping the dog door flap "closed" is a very weak magnet on the bottom of the door. The sides have no closure at all other than some fringe like you would find on a screen door. The door itself is also made out of an incredibly weak thin plastic that I have little faith will hold up over time (just google images of Pet Safe doors and you will find out they are not known for holding up well). I regret buying this door but now that I I have it and returning it isn't worth the hassle (tossed the box, overseas shipping). I should have just bought another Freedom Pet Pass and made a DIY door for the sliding glass door. It would have been a lot more work, it would have cost more up front but I would save on utilities in the end. Seriously, flaps in a mild breeze. It is such a shame because the "human" part of the door is excellent and I couldn't ask for better. I wont make the mistake of buying a PetSafe door again, not when I know there are better options out there.

I like it very much. I reached out for an answer about the bottom glass height extension and never got a yes or no answer. My puppy will be growing into it, he was using it but it just hurts his, *underbelly* when HE would come back in. So he start to first pee the poop inside. All that work I did potty training him gone to waste.

This is exactly what I needed bought one and had to return because it didn't come with anything to latch it to the doorway or sliding door. But this one comes with everything you need (well I had to buy extra weather stripping but that was because I wanted to make absolutely sure no water came in during storms here in Oklahoma) I would definitely recommend this one.

My dogs learned how to use this quickly. I got the large and it is perfect for my 55lb. German Shepherd and 40lb. Blue heeler. The size is suitable for them and they use it to go outside on their own when I’m asleep. That alone made it worth the purchase. The product was relatively easy to put together and even easier to install since it has a retractable spring mechanism to pop it easily in the door frame. I highly recommend this product.

I was able to install the pet door by myself with the very helpful video of a woman installing one. It did require 2 extra rolls of weather seal tape, so be prepared for that. When I finished I looked at my 95 pound dog and thought there is no way she will fit through the door even though it is for large dogs up to 100 lobs. But with the temptation of treats, she was soon jumping right through! My only problem is it came with a small corner of the closing panel on the entrance door broken off. I could find no way to contact the seller to just replace that part. If someone can tell me how to do that, I would give the product 5 stars.
