at first, It looked really small but its actually a very good size. My dog is a pit/colie mix & weights around 30lb. She fits perfect. One down side it the amount insulation it comes with. u should add an extra and insulation to add on all sides of the door.

The door was a little more difficult to assemble than I thought--a better description on the screws would have helped as there were several different ones for different uses and the photos make it difficult to tell which ones were to be used for what function. I had a little difficulty lining up the holes on one side--they were a little off so the door actually has a slight gap in the middle on one side--enough so that I had to purchase something to seal it. The door is very easy to install. I did not install the locks as prior experience with other doggy doors has proven to me that the locks are ineffective so I just got a bar to put into the track. I am going to have to purchase additional weather stripping. I wish enough was provided to do the screen door so that it could be effective used with the doggie door so I'm going to purchase more and edge my screen door so that I get a "close" with it too. ... show more

We have had this dog door for our miniature schnauzer for about a year. It took her about a week to get used to going in and out of it. After that she loves to be able to go outside on her own. She does not even want to be walked any more. She likes to use the door to go outside and bask in the sun or cool off if she is hot. We bought the medium sized dog door. The price is a little to expensive. We used a plastic pipe and cut about a third of it off long ways so that the sliding door will not remain open. The dog door comes with a door lock but in requires drilling etc which may allow bugs to enter your house. ... show more

This is a terrible design. There is a significant gap where air and bugs can come me in. It was difficult to assemble and get in place. The actual doggie door in the left hand corner is great - the rest not so much.

I overall like the door. Screw designation was not clear in instructions. Weatherstripping use was not clear where it went and lock system had no template as mentioned. Still not sure what ro do with the gap where the original door lock was. The pet door is not as thick as the slider so you see the cavity from the outside.
