This PetSafe GPS perimeter caller has exceeded my expectations. The collar itself is durable and adjustable, and it is easy to charge on the base provided. It clicks in and out for secure charging and hold an excellent charge of days at a time. You have the ability to choose what type of correction you would like to use. You can use shock or vibration. The shock level is appropriate and significant enough to correct perimeter breaching. The collar itself offers a significant audible warning prior to vibrating or shocking. The audible beep warning gives the dog plenty of time to change course before a correction is given. The app itself is user-friendly and self-explanatory. I love that. You can have several different fences, making this collar portable to bring with you, camping, to friends, houses, etc. I highly recommend this collar. ... show more

    • Not cheap but very effective in a great Alternative to underground fencing

The hardest part was getting my subscription up and running! However that's a separate topic. This works via GPS satellite. We ordered it to take the place of our underground wire fence, which needs repairs a couple times a year, and it's a pain trying to find out where the break in the line is. After our daughter and son in law recommended this we decided to give it a try. That only does it work great, after you sort the subscription out, setup is a breeze. Having the service tied to your phone is wonderful because you can see exactly where the barriers are and see exactly where little fluffy is. We tried setting various parameters, ie different size areas and it works perfectly. The best part is you could take this on the go if you are traveling or spending the day with friends or relatives and you're able to take your best friend with you. The collars themselves are made well. If you're tired of your underground fence needing constant repairs this is a viable alternative. You have to pay a monthly fee, but to me it's worth it. ... show more

    • Best out there if okay with subscription model

There are monitors that are a bit cheaper but they usually have one of two limitations. If they are free they will have a single point you can choose, then a circular radius out from that point... literally your own option is a circle. Or if they do allow you to choose your dimensions they need some sort of secondary signaling system either buried or posts that do the tracking. This does away with both problems. It may not be right for every situation but it is more accurate and definable than the single point and radius systems, and it is more flexible and cheaper to maintain than the buried or post systems. For that it is 5 stars. Sometimes GPS can go finicky, or lose signal for a moment but every system I have tried will do that from time to time. I would never ever use it on an untrained or aggressive dog. If your dog did get lost it would eventually pick them up though, and for that it is better than the buried type of wireless tracking. The collars might not be for small dogs but anything around lab or larger it is easy to fit. ... show more

We currently (and for a long time) have had a petsafe wireless fence system that our dogs have been trained to. We take it camping and Myself and both of my adult children have the same systems. It is convenient to just take.our collars along when we dog sit for one another. We do have an odd shaped narrow but long property and I wanted my dog to have the full run of the backyard but still be limited on the front yard w/her doggie door. I thought with this system it would be better for that application vs the round parameter the current system I use has. Unfortunately, after getting this system, reading more about how it works, and having to do the subscription I realized it is probably not ideal for our specific situation. I think I'll stick w/the system we have. For someone else this may be a better fit. ... show more

1st off I want to say that this collar does need a subscription, but isn't too expensive compared to the peace of mind that it delivers. I love this collar for my dog. I trust its accuracy enough that if he had thumbs I would send him to the post office 2 blocks from my house to pick up the mail. The easy to set up instructions that it came with are fool proof. There is a app to download in order to set up the boundaries and also see where your dog is in real time with the gps functionality.
