Not much to say about the filters - they do what they're supposed to do, keeping the water much cleaner. I've noticed if I go any longer than 4 weeks between filters, my cats stop using the fountain and beg to use the sink again. The filters are a bit expensive at my local pet store, and getting them online through Amazon is a much cheaper option. The only downside was that it took awhile - nearly 2 weeks for them to get here. When I got concerned that the retailer wasn't going to send them (I'd read other reviews saying that they took a long time and customer service wouldn't respond), I contacted customer service via email. I was pleasantly surprised to get a response the next business day saying my order was in process, and then the filters happened to arrive that same day. So overall, good product at a good price, just don't expect them to get to you very quickly! ... show more

    • The filters are a perfect fit and do last longer than stated.

I use the product in the pet well fountain to keep the water clean and they work just fine. Since the fountain now comes with the pump placed stupidly inside the fountain, which means it is in the water, the filter keep the water clean which is very important. AND they come in packs of three.

My cats love to drink the filtered water at the spout where the water comes out. The filter makes the water very inviting for them. Even though the water is filtered, I must clean the entire unit every 1 or 2 weeks due to dirt the cats some how manage to get in the bowl. This is why I gave it 4 stars. I replace the filter more often due to the thorough cleanings of the DRINKWELL unit. Even though I can use the old filter, I like to make sure everything is clean. I use a lot of these filters. These filters are hard to get now at the Pet store, because they go to a Drinkwell fountain that is probably now considered to be outdated. The 1 st fountain didn't last as long as I thought it would. I bought a 2 nd one, because at least one of my two cats would use it on occasion, and a fountain is handy when you go away, and you have a pet sitter. I have nothing to measure the efficiency of the filters by, but I hope they are doing their job. ... show more

We have 2 cats. One of the cats is a tiny tuxedo and the other is a Bengal. first of all, you have to rinse it a while so there will be no black carbon in the water. The carbon is not suppose to be a problem, but I do not want it in their water. Second, I have to wash everything more then once a month, which is a pain to take everything apart. I think it will be every 2 or 3 weeks, because after a month, the filter, motor and drinking fountain are very slimy and gross, and it takes forever to get the slime off, even with hot water and Dawn dish soap. I have six cats and they are constantly using the water fountain which they love. Needless to say I have to clean the unit out quite often so I go through the filters. I personally prefer the ones I purchased instead of the ones that have eight cells. Those seem to get clogged easier. I am very happy with these filters. ... show more
