    • Cute Interactive Capybara Toy with Some Surprisingly Clever Features
This is a semi-blind box toy from Zuru's Pets Alive line. Zuru has been making the Pets Alive line for several years, and they also have experience with true blind box toys. This particular toy is a mommy capybara with 2-4 baby capybaras. I received three babies. I do think I had slightly higher expectations going into this toy than it ended up deserving, but putting those expectations aside, this is still a very cute and fun toy. The packaging and unboxing experience are really nicely done. I especially like that the capybara is secured in the tub with pegs on the bottom, so everything stays in place until you're ready to open it. The toy does require batteries, which are not included. The mommy capybara has an on/off switch, and when you connect a baby to her using the magnetic connection, she will talk. If you gently press down on her back, she starts moving forward while singing nursery rhymes. The back activation is actually the feature that impressed me the most. It isn't a traditional button, and there is no obvious click or haptic feedback. It responds to a very gentle press, almost like petting the toy to get it moving. The baby capybaras can all connect magnetically while the mommy walks, which is a really fun little feature. It also comes with a little magnetic duck accessory that can sit on the capybara's head. The duck does not activate any sounds; the chirping is part of the mommy capybara's vocalizations while she moves and babbles. My cats are quite interested in the sounds because they remind them of their toy mice. Overall, this is a cute interactive toy with some clever design choices. The gentle activation and magnetic connections are the standout features, even if the toy wasn't quite as impressive as I originally imagined it would be. ... show more

My daughter has recently become obsessed with capybaras, so I was looking for something fun and themed for her birthday. When I came across the Pets Alive Capybara Baby Surprise set, it felt like the perfect gift. The set features a mommy capybara that comes in a bathtub with bubble themed details, along with her babies tucked inside. It also includes a cute rubber ducky that magnetizes and sits on top, which adds a fun interactive touch to the whole set. The mommy moves and the babies follow along. The concept is really adorable and feels like a complete little play scene rather than just a single toy. The bathtub setup makes it feel like a surprise reveal, which I think will make opening it on her birthday even more exciting. I am really looking forward to seeing her reaction when she opens it. Based on how much she already loves capybaras, I think this is going to be a huge hit and something she plays with a lot. My daughter is a huge fan of pets alive, and has several of their pets. The capybara mom and babies are fun for her to play with. She enjoys the noises and the cute bath tub. They’re mostly plastic so they aren’t the highest quality toys but they’ll hold up to quite a bit of play. My daughter loves how the babies will follow the mom around too. This is a great toy for kids that like animals. Overall I would order this again, I think it’s a fun toy. I also think it’s a good value. I would recommend it to others. This is such a cute little gift for a young child who loves imaginative play and is nurturing. The toy is marketed as being for ages 2+, but the little babies are quite small so I would not feel comfortable giving this to a child who is under the age of 3. For about $25 you get a good quality, interactive toy. My daughter was pleasantly surprised with the movements. She thought that the toys were stationary but she got so excited when she realized the babies follow the mommy. It's a good deal and would make a good birthday gift. Ordered this for my daughter who absolutely loves capybaras and it turned out to be one of the best presents she opened for her birthday! With batteries, the cute capybara waddles and makes noises like a real capybara. The set comes with three baby capybaras too that follow the mom around. This toy definitely exceeded my expectations with its cuteness and product quality. I wasn’t expecting it to waddle, which is so much fun to watch.     • A Fun & Giftable Toy - At the Right Price & When You Get All the Components
Aside from the personal rating, this toy really would make a great gift idea. It's fun, unique, and undoubtedly adorable. Despite its simplicity, a two-year old could easily have tons of fun playing around with this! The quality is there in construction; nothing feels flimsy at all. The capybara can move on multiple surfaces. Though, if you have thicker carpet, it totally won't budge! For the purchase price of $17.51, this feels like a value. However, anything higher just seems overly expensive. However! The sounds are subpar. They're not clear at all. The voices sound cheap, if that makes any sense. The package I got only came with two baby capybaras, as well, which was unfortunate - despite it being advertised as three. The duck stays put, but sometimes the "babies" have a hard time staying attached to one another. And as much as I understand how this can't be used in water, it's unfortunate that such a large bathtub can't be used to *actually* wash and clean the capybaras. I honestly thought that's where a lot of the play was going to happen - within that bathtub. Otherwise, it seems positively superfluous. And - not to be crude - but I'm so not keen on the babies basically attaching themselves to their "mommy's" butt. Not that a child would have a problem with it, but it totally gives Human Centipede kinda vibes. Totally weird, honestly. Also - and this is totally on me - but my three-year-old had it in her lap with the wheels turning and it really, really hurt her; it ended up giving her a pretty significant boo-boo and bruise. The instructions say to avoid skin, so definitely pay attention to your child while they're playing with it! This is to say, as well, that a child should not be playing with this alone - even a responsible one. Overall, it's *all right*, despite its drawbacks. If you're careful; if you end up getting all that's describe within it; and you have a child that *loves* capybaras, then it's a worthy toy to have. ... show more
