It will stand up to smaller dogs but a bigger dog will have no trouble going through the gate as there are no locks or way to secure it to the wall or railing. Can easily be opened with a paw. This gate is exactly what I needed. When looking for a gate I knew I wanted something freestanding as I didn’t want to deal with hardware. I also needed one that was at least 40” wide and a decent height. This fit the bill. My dogs don’t even try to move it. My dogs used to get upset when I would shut them out of my bedroom while I made the bed (they followed me from one side of the bed to the other). And when I was in the kitchen cooking or cleaning I was constantly running into them or tripping over them (I have two big dogs, a small dog and a cat). This gate allows me lone access to my bedroom and kitchen and they stay calm because they can see me. At first they lay right in front of the gate but now when they see me spread it out they just continue on with what they’re doing. It has SAVED MY SANITY!!! I got this on sale for $22 which is why I bought it despite the mixed reviews. It is flimsy and light because it's not made of real wood . It hasn't fallen on itself so far. No assembly was necessary. It works well for my needs, my dogs leave it alone. Sometimes my smart dog can use her paws to move it open when she's determined. It will not work well for a dog that jumps on gates. For size reference, my biggest dog is about 30lbs (black doodle with long legs) and around 13lbs for the other 2 dogs in the photo. ... show more

Great quality, it's great for the stairs it looks super nice and best of all my 14 week old puppy can't just push it over. Would definitely recommend and buy again if needed. I did have to put it upside down to go the direction I needed.

I haven't finished remodeling my home, so please forgive the lack of baseboards going on here. Anyway!! This is exactly what I needed. All of my friends have little dogs. 2 - 3. Whenever my friends come over, it's a doggy party! This gate will help section off the master bedroom, in it is a carpet that I paid way too much money for and it's super hard to clean! This should resolve the issue with them peeing on it. I was on the fence about 3 panel or 4 panel, cuz I was under the impression that an extra panel would make it more sturdy. I was fearful of it not being weighted enough and falling over. I'm glad I got the 3 panel due to having a small place. Also, because my home has so many door and hallways, it's quite easy to wedge the gate behind hinges, frames, which helps lock it in place better. As long as you have enough of a fold going on though, it shouldn't fall over with small dogs! I also appreciated the finish on this... I held off on getting a doggy gate from The maxx, or ross because they always have a gross unfinished rough wood texture to them!! This is smooth which is needed when constantly handling.
